Hi guys, we're planning to buy a Japan converted Mitsubishi RVR (Sports Gear). Anyone there who has one? Feedback naman. We'll be buying from a dealer who directly imports 2nd hand SUVs from Japan. Thanks!

Gearbox Mitsubishi Orig (wala welding ako nakita), all gauges working. Even the dashboard is LHD (Conversion Kit). Ano pa kailangan ko tignan?

aside from the gear box, check on how the conversion is made, baka naman "pwde na rin yan" ang ginawa

pm mo rin si hybrid, that's his business nag co-convert... kahit ano

Check the tire pressures kun tama specs and then do a test drive. Feel if it does feels right on all possible driving conditions (parallel parking, left turn, right turn, circular turns, etc).

Try to turn the steering on stationary position kung hindi sumasabay ang body (as in parang hirap).

Consider also checking out an orig na spacegear underchasis configuration (if you could find one).

Ask a waranty or money back guarantee from the seller ( ?? )

checking out an orig na spacegear
Ser, Space Wagon hindi Space Gear. Hehehe.

Nilagare tapos dinaan sa fiberglass and paint.

Mas mura ba RVR kaysa used Space Wagon na local?

we have a rvr but hindi sports gear, yung walang tire rack sa likod.
so far no major problem, conversion, mechanical, dashboard no problem, sarap gamitin for everyday, super luwag 2nd row seat.
turbo nalang kulang feeling evo na hehe :D gas engine kasi dohc 4g63.
what are you planning to buy, gas or diesel?

Check the aircon also. In some conversions, the levers to adjust airflow (to the front, foot area or windshield, etc) are not re-installed anymore.

You may also have to adjust or replace the following:
    1. wipers (baliktad)
    2. headlights (mali and angle ng buga ng ilaw)
    3. side mirrors (wrong angle also, dami blind spots)

Based lang po on my experience with a JDM liteace.

Thanks for the advise guys. Also has a bullbar with fog lamps. Turbo engine and 4x4. We're planning to buy the gasoline/AT unit dahil yun ang gusto ni erpats. Test drive namin to this thursday sa antipolo and see kung maganda yung ride and kung malakas sa ahon.

The dealer will give us warranty and free na yung pa two tone yung body color. Kinatok ko na at wala naman masilya. Malalaman natin yan sa test drive sa thursday. Naghanap ako ng reviews ng RVR sa internet and popular to sa Japan, Russia and Australia/New Zealand.

    Thanks!

more importantly, go beyond the aesthetics and check the mechanical conversion. This would include the brakes, steering, suspension, aircon, and the like...

Check the brake system if it was a original LHD kit, it's a bit dangerous if they just repiped/rerouted the RHD system... Check if the welding used for the steering components, etc were TIG or MIG welders.

Check also if the left hand drive suspension components from the local Space Wagon are compatible...

    TIG- Tungsten Inert Gas welding
    MIG- Gas metal arc welding

From how i understand it, they bond to the welded metal better then the run-of-the-mill acetelyn welding that most corner shops use. If they use acetelyn, it usually brakes off after some metal fatigue as it is not that well bonded onto the joined metals.

Parang cross between van and sedan tapos SUV. Gulo no?

eto itsura niya...checkout niyo website na to (kaso RHD siya dito) http://www.doremotors.co.uk/cars/N68W0666426.htm

Unang bigay sa akin nung dealer is P375k pero kakatawad ko (close friend kasi nung friend ko yung may ari) pumayag sa P300k. tinignan ko current value nito sa local buy and sell P330k-above for a 96 model RVR Sports Gear. Hope good deal to.

    2cturboy,
actually all conversions yung a/c vents (foot vent, defrost) does not work anymore, yung sa front lang ng dash gumagana. except when the whole dashboard was changed including everything under it not only the external dash, bihirang-bihira lang ang gumagawa nito since it will be too expensive, hindi na worth it.

ok na yung price, but sure ka ba na gas/turbo yan? not diesel? tapos hindi pa 2 tone?
all RVR i've seen are 4x4. RVR sportgear that I've seen have rear tire rack, full bullbar in front, side moulding, fender flares (kaya sure na 2-tone silver), turbo Diesel, real time 4x4.

    kimpoy,
short wheelbase na spacewagon ito, in the US, "Expo" tawag dyan, body parts are same w/ spacewagon.

Tinawag ko na sa shop just a while ago and sabi nila two tone-sliver na pala to. Further questions:

    1. Di ba turbo yung gas RVR Sportgear?
    2. Performance wise, should we get a diesel or gasoline unit?
    3. In the event na magkaproblema to, me parts kaya available? Ubra ba parts ng space wagon dito?
    4. Meron ba sa banawe orig/surplus parts and accesories ng RVR?

Thanks mga demiGods talaga kayo sa auto!

    1. Di ba turbo yung gas RVR Sportgear?
I'm not sure about this 1, wala pa ako nakikita na gas-turbo, diesel lang, although meron nagsasabi na may gas-turbo

    2. Performance wise, should we get a diesel or gasoline unit?
Depends on what you want, kung performance I think gas will be better, if you want economy, diesel naman

    3. In the event na magkaproblema to, me parts kaya available? Ubra ba parts ng space wagon dito?
exterior-wise almost the same sila ng spacewagon w/ the exception of some parts like the sliding door.
engine-wise, kung gas it will be the same as galant dohc 4g63 so safe ka na. kung diesel naman, 4d68 yata yan, not sure about parts since most mitsu engines available locally are 4d56

    4. Meron ba sa banawe orig/surplus parts and accesories ng RVR?
If you look hard enough, meron. people have offered me the rear tire rack, I've seen a tailgate, rear plate garnish, among others but not cheap.

Salamat muli, gas turbo daw to kaya most likely gas unit kunin namin.

question lang, paano ko malalaman yung year model (year manufacture) nito from reading the engine and chassis no.? meron ba tayo dito like reference materials for Japanese made CARs and SUVs. Tip naman mga pards.

    Thanks!

    ownertype,

Tignan mo yung tag sa seatbelt. You'll get a rough idea from there.

Sige will do that. Di kasi nila maibigay yung exact year model nung sasakyan. Kaya nga curious din ako makita yung CR and recent OR from LTO.
