Hi guys, we're planning to buy a Japan converted Mitsubishi RVR (Sports Gear). Anyone there who has one? Feedback naman. We'll be buying from a dealer who directly imports 2nd hand SUVs from Japan. Thanks!
Gearbox Mitsubishi Orig (wala welding ako nakita), all gauges working. Even the dashboard is LHD (Conversion Kit). Ano pa kailangan ko tignan?

March 24th, 2003 11:01 PM #3Check the tire pressures kun tama specs and then do a test drive. Feel if it does feels right on all possible driving conditions (parallel parking, left turn, right turn, circular turns, etc).
Try to turn the steering on stationary position kung hindi sumasabay ang body (as in parang hirap).
Consider also checking out an orig na spacegear underchasis configuration (if you could find one).
Ask a waranty or money back guarantee from the seller ( ?? )

Yung RVR sa UST ang panget ng dashboard. Nilagare tapos dinaan sa fiberglass and paint.
Mas mura ba RVR kaysa used Space Wagon na local?

March 25th, 2003 09:20 AM #6Check the aircon also. In some conversions, the levers to adjust airflow (to the front, foot area or windshield, etc) are not re-installed anymore.
You may also have to adjust or replace the following:
1. wipers (baliktad)
2. headlights (mali and angle ng buga ng ilaw)
3. side mirrors (wrong angle also, dami blind spots)
Based lang po on my experience with a JDM liteace.

Thanks for the advise guys. Sa nakita ko ang kaibahan ng RVR Sports Gear sa ordinary RVR yung spare tire nasa likod. Also has a bullbar with fog lamps. Turbo engine and 4x4. We're planning to buy the gasoline/AT unit dahil yun ang gusto ni erpats. Test drive namin to this thursday sa antipolo and see kung maganda yung ride and kung malakas sa ahon.
The dealer will give us warranty and free na yung pa two tone yung body color. Kinatok ko na at wala naman masilya. Malalaman natin yan sa test drive sa thursday. Naghanap ako ng reviews ng RVR sa internet and popular to sa Japan, Russia and Australia/New Zealand.
Sa araw araw ko na pagdaan ko sa EDSA wala ako nakikita na RVR hmmmm bakit kaya? Kaya nga so curious ako kung ang mga nakabili nito so far.
Thanks!

more importantly, go beyond the aesthetics and check the mechanical conversion. This would include the brakes, steering, suspension, aircon, and the like...
Check the brake system if it was a original LHD kit, it's a bit dangerous if they just repiped/rerouted the RHD system... Check if the welding used for the steering components, etc were TIG or MIG welders.
Check also if the left hand drive suspension components from the local Space Wagon are compatible...
