October 22nd, 2009 12:52 PM #107Hi all,
I have some questions. My wife and I just bought a Exceed 1995 Pajero with a 2.8L engine. My question is. On a cold start we get alittle black smoke with some white smoke. Is this normal for a cold start? It doesn't last very long. maybe 30 secs. If there is a problem I would like to get it taken care of while it is still under warranty from the Company we got it from.
Plz, keep any questions or answer in English please. Sorry, I don't speak any tagalog, cebuano yet. I am still learning Cebuano.
Thank you for your time and help.

normal if its just a wee cloud or so that disappears after 30 secs or so.
abnormal if you leave a cloud behind you all the time or when accelerating hard. in which case i would investigate the turbo system.
i think the rough visual guide when it comes to diesel emissions is white = coolant or oil, and black/blue = fuel. too much of either would mean any of the things mentioned are entering the combustion system and getting burned by the pistons.

October 22nd, 2009 01:53 PM #109Salamat Po,
I hope u don't mind. One more question. I have read that I can shift on the fly into 4H up to 100km/h. Is this true? Or do I need to stop to shift?
Thank you again for your time and help.
Plz, keep answers in English.

i did this once or twice at NLEX. at around 90kph or close to 100kph, i shifted to 4H mode. this is one feature of the super select 4wd system of pajeros. just don't exceed to 100 if you're planning sir.
Off topic: sir, mind you po, did you came from states that's why you can't understand tagalog?
I do not have technical knowledge on cars. Since I am scouting for a new ride (I already have an...
