ganito ang problem ng pajero gen1 ('89 model 4d56 n/a) namin eversince nung bago pa sya, malakas sya humatak pag bagong andar pa lang. let's say, on d way 2 baguio, mula nlex hanggang tarlac maganda pa tumakbo ito (i.e. speed is 100-120 km/h at ok pa syang i-overtake) kaya lang, pag bandang mga pangasinan na n beyond, ang hina na tumakbo.puro rpm na lang n d grunt is really decreased.pag i-pahinga naman yung auto after a few hours,ok na naman until parang "ma-fatigue" ito.ano kaya problema peeps?i want 2 hear ur inputs muna bago ko dalin sa talyer e.in short, hindi sustained yung performance ng auto.tnx in adv!

Sounds like a heat related thing:
-check your vaccum hoses for cracks, leak in intake/ exhaust manifold.
-radiator clutch fan too soft, may need to reapply silicon within.
    - has water pump been replaced?
    - has radiator been cleaned/ overhauled, faulty thermostat?

    Filter problem? (air, fuel, etc.)

Buti nga yung GEN I N/A mo umaabot ng 120 kph. Yung sa amin 100 kph lang pababa na yung daan sa lagay na iyan.

    momoyster,

also experienced that on my ride. may nagsabi clutch daw, so i replaced clutch disc, pressure plate & release bearing (P5k inabot). tapos may nagsabi filters daw, so i changed oil, oil filter, air filter (P1k ang gastos). tapos may nagsabi pa- calibrate ko daw, so i had it calibrated (P8k naman). tapos last month, kasi may tumutulo daw na langis sa breather & sa cylinder head, so i had it top-overhauled (P7k, whew) yung last na ginawa ko eh.... pinalitan ko ng mags ng gen2 para wala na talagang masilip na probabale cause. :D

sa ngayon ok na sya. can go from 0-120 km/hr in macapagal boulevard  hindi ko na ramdam yung unsustained performance kasi i have'nt gone past tarlac eh!

    HTH!

    momoyster,
How many kms has it done? Have you done any type of overhaul on engine?

What type of oil and filter are you using?

    sir jackaroo,
75k km na sya.no overhauls yet, only a calibration was done nung 50k na mileage nya. no problems rily wid dis car xcept nga yung parng napapagod sya pag mainit na makina. d temp gauge needle only points to 1/4 of its scale kaya d ko maisip kung isasali ko pa nga yung cooling system sa process of elimination e:D

    momoyster,
Given that the pajero is going on 14 yrs old, it may be worth looking into the cooling and fuel system. Inspite of the low mileage, certain parts have to be changed after so many years of use.
Did the car ever overheat? Have you changed the fuel pump?
    Have your compression checked too.:?
