nagkadelica ako noon, pinalano ko na yan. kaya natambay din ako sa parts and shops that deals mainly with pajero/delica.

pag from AT to MT, papalit ka nga flywheel, clutchpack, at MT.

magkakaprob ka din sa performance kasi ung rear differential ratio ay di magmamatch. pero since 4wd ka, dapat pati front differential papalitan mo with the ones with the same ratio as the rear diff.

in general: kung EFI or CRDi, basta may computer box, just be sure na palitan mo yung box nga "for MT" kung di magkaka problem ka din.

kung front drive madali kasi magkakasama na ang tranny at differential.. pag REAR or part-time 4wd, ung differentials ka magkakaprob.

everything is possible but is it worth it?

this doesn't make sense to me, why not just sell the car and just buy a car the you wanted kesa palit palit eh hinde naman sira...

kung kaya mo naman pala bumili ng bagong tranny then kaya mo rin gastusin yun laboir ng transfer then mas maganda ibenta mo na lang yun kotse then yun gagastusin mo sa pagbili and replace ng tranny, idagdag mo na lang makakabili ka pa ng mas bagong model and makakpili ka pa ng talgang gusto mo

    "whatever floats your boat"

converted a/t to m/t po yung subic Pajero namin. the fuel savings are significant. the responsiveness... way off better... the only problem we had was the EGR malfunctioning after the convertion. but as long as 4D56, hindi 4m40.

yes, there is risk to this. but we already done this 3 times already.

but to give you an idea what you are really paying...

surplus m/t: more or less 20K
    Labor: ???

selling your a/t will be super cheap. dito nga sa amin, the surplus shops didn't accept our spare pajero a/t's for a townace a/t. marami pa kasi sila stocks... kaya all our 3 a/t are stuck sa backyard shop namin...

but di naman basta-basta titirik a/t eh... most likely, it will just shift shock on you and the fuel consumption will increase significantly... but it will still keep on running...

~Natz ++++

My officemate has his PAJERO change from AT to Manual.

Now with regards to AT against Manual. It has it's pros and cons.

    Based po sa observation ko.
    Pros of AT's
    * Sa traffic di ka mangangalay.
    * Easy to learn...parang bumper cars lang ito eh. Kaya nga prefered by ladies ito. It's so easy I fell asleep on the wheel actually! So beware sleepyheads!

    Cons of AT's
    * Gas consumption...proven ito. Hindi man drastic pero still if u leave it on drive for awhile during stop, we will assume it is eating up gas di ba?
    * Switching from DRIVE to REVERSE and vice-versa.
    * Arangkada wise, talo ito, very much proven, kahit I use the SPORTRONIC mode (Manual version ng AT with the + and - gears). Di ko pa rin feel ang hatak compared sa Manual. Unless you got a V6 engine. Yun lang ang AT na hindi nagpahiya sa akin when it comes to arangkada.
    * Mahal paayos ang AT pag nasira!

    Pro's of MANUAL Trannys
    * Pag bumigay ang battery mo, pwede pa i-jumpstart
    * Maganda hatak sa arangkada
    * Matipid sa fuel consumption compared sa AT (now we're talking about the same Engine Disp. ha? Ibang usapan na if we compare a 1.3 to a 2.5 litre engine now don't u agree?)
    * Mura piyesa pag pina-ayos.
    * Pretty much the opposite of the "Con's of AT"

    Cons of MANUAL Trannys
    * Pretty much the opposite of the "Pro's of AT"

Anyway, kanya-kanyang opinion na yan. Sa family ko mainly Manual -Renault, Ford Laser, Owner Jeep, (w/c is common then). When I met my wife, I 've driven mostly their At's. (PAJERO Fieldmaster, Outlander, Lancer MX). So madami-dami na ako experience both AT and Manual. Sa motorbike din! I have an AT, mas ok arangkada ng AT na motor kaysa sa Manual kasi mas complicated ang clutch system ng Motorbikes.

Now don't get me wrong AT lovers! I own a 99 GALANT VR V6 AT! She is by far the best drive I have! But at the end of the day the fuel consumption. But hey I got a 2.5 V6 engine so who am I to complain? What you wish is what you get. I also wanted to change from AT to Manual (since iba pa rin feel ng manual), but since it is costly and it may give out drastic changes or additional problems to the car itself...I shrug off the idea.

Check out any1 of this sites...

CLUBVR4.COM (Europe based -UK, NZ etc. -first forums na nasalihan ko!)
    GALANTFORUMS.COM (ok dito lotsa pimping!!)
    OZVR4.COM (Australian based)
    THEGALANTCENTER.NET
MYMITSUPH.COM (RP based -I think may problem sya! I can't register)

They make it look and sound easy...pero i gues they're mostly mechanics. So they know what they're doing.

So in closing...Kung magpapapalit ka lang from AT to MANUAL. Good luck! Becasue it really takes skills (and a lot of mulahs to do it). I know your sentiments when it comes between AT and Manual...honestly yun lng ang parang ayaw ko sa Galant VR ko, but I;ve grown to appreciate it then since bihira naman ako Highway driving.

BTW I just got my TIMING belt done at the CASA and they've warned me about my AT...malapit na raw bumigay. Magiging gastos ko raw is 150k just to replace that AT (2nd hand pa daw un!! That coming from a Genuine Mitsubishi Mechanic. And I think he's not kidding.
