So it seems to me arbitrary lang yang 5k.

it's been like that for us ever since the start of our (amin!) written automotive history.
i suppose, the number stuck, even as manufacturing tolerances and design have evolved.
i just think of it this way: i'm not just changing spent oil; i'm removing the fine metal shavings.
ako puro gasolina kotse.
Gaguhan naman sa casa.
Once a year oil change ako. Minsan nga sa low mileage car ko eh once in two years. Eh magoil change ba agad eh paano kung 3,000kms in 2years ang linaw pa ng langis. Kung may accessible lang oil test gusto ko nga malaman kung parang transmission fluid na you follow the kms not the years. Eh sa transmission inabot ng 8years bago mag 40,000kms.
Pero sa desel eh mag oil change agad kayo ang dumi ng makina nyo.
After its second year, have been doing 10k km or 12 months which ever comes first for our gas cars. So far, no issues at all. I use only FS oil.
Even when the Jetta TDI was under warranty, it followed a 15k km or 12 months change oil cycle. I just did its oil change outside casa last month and it was so much cheaper.

Ano na ba yun isang methologyaibtenace name after a person na ginagawa ng BMW owners na meron talagang scheduled parts replacements whether sira or hinde?
I think *travajante posted it before.
Can.somwbody post it kung alam ninyo.

It's not even a promo, it's just marketing ****, who charges for 1k km PMS? So you are actually paying full price for all 5.
With our FJ, Toyota charged us for the 1k PMS. They changed the oil too.
The Kona too, change oil agad with the 1k PMS. Nanakot pa na ma void ang warranty pag hindi gagawin.
Ford and Mazda, no problems, di naniningil sa 1k PMS. Yung Mazda namin libre pa PMS for 3 years.
Warranties are over rated. For me, after the 1st year or on the 10k kms mark, labas na mag PMS unless there was a warranty claim within the 10k kms period.
Yung natipid mo in PMS can buy you parts, pay for labor for repairs in case nagkaissue ang kotse. Very rare naman catastrophic engine failure
