Good day Tsikoteers! I just read about this in Autoindustriya recently. A Montero for less than a million pesos is indeed welcome news. A Montero for the price of a top model sedan!!!

    Interesting.

Now I wonder how bare the Montero will be.

That seems like good news for people looking for a new SUV. Maybe not so much for people who just bought a Montero. But how bare is the "barest" montero 2011 and how much does it cost?

    this is possible if:

    1. its the 2.5 4d56 non-VGT diesel engine
    2. manual 4x2 transmission without the invecs II system (probably similar tranny to the adventure)
    3. no HU/MID/MMS
    4. no backing sensor
    5. no front foglamps

most likely, it could be an adventure in a monty body

i wonder what else will be stripped down

    1. Black plastic bumpers
    2. No front foglamps
    3. No fancy HU
    4. No airbags
    5. No rear wiper
    6. No rear skid plates(?)
    7. Plastic side mirrors ( non-chrome, just black )
    8. non-VGT engine
    9. Basic Manual transmission
    10. No backing up sensor
    11. 5-seater? Lol.

    Feasible?

For me i find this news welcoming. Finally a manufacturer who is willing to do wonders to give the average filipinos a truth money's worth vehicle. I can smell the end of overpriced crosswind and high end innovas if they dont counter act this move by mitsubishi. Im glad that mitsubishi is back on its track again Not just to regain the number 1 position but also to the consumers' heart.

+1 ako dito, mas worth it naman bumili ng stripped down Montero kesa sa "over glorified" Isuzu Sportivo and Innova V. This reminds me back in the day when I was buying my first brand new car (Civic hatchback) may choice ako that time whether to buy the bare unit at 375k yata yun if I'm not mistaken or 425k for the Limited edition with better upholstery, mag wheels, body colored bumpers and stereo.

On the bright side, may 3.8 V6 na lalabas. From credible source.

Mitsubishi to sell a sub-million Montero model in 2012?
