    Mitsubishi Motors to withdraw from Dakar Rally

    TOKYO, February 4, 2009 — Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced today their decision to withdraw from Cross Country Rallying, starting with the legendary Dakar Rally.

    In its 26 entries in this event, Mitsubishi Motors won the rally a total of 12 times, including seven consecutive victories. In addition to this unparalleled record the company also gained 4WD technology that informs its production vehicles, most visible in their durability and off road performance.

    The sudden deterioration of the global economy made it necessary for the company to focus its resources more tightly, leading to today's announcement.

    most probably pagkatapos ng economic crunch magbabalikan din ang mga teams sa cross country rallying, iba din kasi ang media mileage na nakukuha nila dyan, and of course the practical r&d that goes with it. let's look forward to better days ahead!

    yup but joining legal races advertises for the company also. IMO like the lancer evo dun sumikat sa rally eh.

    sayang naman the Lancer Dakar car. once lang nagamit.
    Im currently watching the Dakar rallies. Day 2 pa lang ako.

    Ayan! Wala na sila trio idol drivers! huhuhu! I'll blame it to that freakin Lancer Racing wanna be. Loser naman sya sa rally every since 1998 something onwards... Pati Pajero dinamay. Grrr...

    Lipat sila sa Volkswagen, sa European Car Talk na rin ako.

    yeah, it looks like VW would be the next bet...

    otherwise, lets go for the thai mitsubishi team racing with the Pajero Sport and Strada /Triton
