February 25th, 2007 12:10 AM #11Yep. Acceleration.Still, even at 160 kph it felt very, very stable -- unlike with fwd compacts nowadays who admittedly can leave it on the straightaway.I remember a loooong time ago. I went top speed up to pamp. Mga 165 yun at a dead hour but I didn't feel nervous (may hinahabol kasi akong libing eh ang tulin nung karosa. hahaha).

February 25th, 2007 05:59 PM #16Yep. RWD sila. It was a GREAT rwd vehicle though, during the times na hindi pa uso ang fwd. Daming pinanalong rally niyan during its time -- parang evo or maybe even more dominant pa.
As to restoration, depende siguro kung how much budget niyo. I don't think it's worth it kung hindi babalik sa pristine condition. If it's a junker, parang hindi sulit. I even saw a couple in the last T&T edition yata yun -- tuned and customized though. It wasn't for sale but with the upgrade, I'm sure it'll cost a pretty penny.

June 4th, 2011 04:27 PM #20my first ever car is an 83 sl, replaced the trans and defferential with GSR specs and a simul carbs. and the rest was history.. 140 kph was achievable with stock exhaust.. but drop the simul carbs since gas consumption will increase.. however i sold it after a year..
got myself another lancer its a GLXI 95 mdl. i replaced the bumpers to Libero with fogs.. and its doing well..
i was able to save small amount of money and got tempted to buy another box type car.. im a proud owner of a 83 GL Automatic Lancer with a sunroof, blue glass and power steering 13"s mesh magwheels .. and im loving it..
