Mga Sir, can you give an advice to me? I recently acquired a 2nd owned (bali 3rd owner na ako) Lancer 2002 GLX 1.5 carb engine. Yung sa FC lang sana. Based on my computation, and I hope I'm right since bago lang din akong driver hehe, I'm consuming around 5-6 km/l. That's city driving only. I haven't tried it sa highway. Is that normal? Or masyado lang ba mabigat paa ako? Btw, yung mags nya is 17" with 4pcs Nankang 205/40/17. Any helpful advice para sa noobs like me? Thanks a lot!

medyo madaming items that are to be taken into consideration:

a) the recorded consumption of a 1.5 GLX carb is around 9-10 kpl.
b) however, you have mentioned that you are doing city driving only, so on a conservative FC, it could be at the 7 kpl consumption. i am assuming puro 1st and 2nd gear ka lang nyan.
c) your rims are on 17s... mas mataas ang consumption nyan ng onti, compared to stock rims.

note that carbed engines consume higher fuel than injected engines, tapos pure city driving ka ata, tapos naka 17s ka pa, so i think the 6 kpl FC is normal.

however, paki measure din ng accurately by completely filling your tank to the brim, coming from a warning signal.... para sure kung ilang litro talaga ang nakakarga and naitakbo.... tapos reset mo trip meter mo to zero.

I got another question. This is on shifting gears. To recap, my car is a Lancer 2002 1.5 GLX. Reading the manual, medyo naguguluhan lang ako sa gear shifting in terms of speed eh. In practicality, what speed ba to shift gears? Ang ginagawa ko kasi 1st to 2nd around 15-20kph, 2nd to 3rd is 30kph, 3rd to 4th 50kph, 4th to 5th 80kph and above? Am I doing this right? Also I shift gears when RPM is between 2-2.5 sometimes 3K. Thanks!

the figures seem to be in the ballpark.. although i usually shift to fifth at 60..

imho, the most efficient way on shifting is via RPM, not on speed.

yes.... kung paakyat, di ka makakapagshift ng 2k rpm, imho. and kung flat naman ang daan, pwede kang mag shift ng 2k, imho ulit. kung iniingatan mo yung FC mo, shift between 2-2.5k rpm.

First of all, paano niyo po nasabi na malakas sa gas? ilan kilometers per liter po ang computation niyo? Kailangan niyo po masabi ang figures para masabi na malakas talaga sa gas. Wag po tayo mag rely sa pagtingin sa fuel gauge, usually mabilis talaga bumababa ang fuel gauge lalo na kung less than half na siya. Better i check niyo po using full tank method para makuha exact figures ng fuel consumption. Then try to post the figures then malalaman natin kung malakas nga talaga siya sa gas.

If its an a/t lancer malakas po talaga sa gas.. Its a known fact..

I don't have exact figures, but my sister have a 2004 lancer mx and eats like my pajero fieldmaster in city driving..

Sa long drive ok lang fc, but against its competitors you can save more pa..

it's not easy trouble-shooting cars via internet... but...

that's not good fuel in-efficiency...
i recommend you keep it in regular D. it's like limiting your gear to 3rd gear only, even if it can do the less-gas-guzzling higher gears.... let the car choose the gear it wants.. hindi nga sinmalakas ang hatak, hindi rin malakas ang hatak sa puerta de moneda..
btw, perhaps you should bring it to a trans expert.. maybe your trans isn't shifting as good as it should... errr... how's your transmission fluid level po?

nasa 3 ka lang tapos dumadaan ka sa coastal express highway?
its like naka 3rd gear ka lang tapos tumatakbo ka ng 80-100 kph.
malakas talaga sa gas yan.
stay in D for highway driving.... normal lang talaga sa AT ang may onting lag compared to MT.
ginagamit lang ang 3 pag medyo paakyat na kailangan mo ng power (e.g. going to Tagaytay), although going to Tagaytay on AT at D, it can still manage.

Patulong mga sir, di na gumana yung cluster gauge ko (speedometer, rpm and odometer). Ano ba kailangan ko palitan na parts o itsek?

Good day mga boss. Ask ko lng pros and cons if pina simul ko primary and secondary valve ng carb ko. Medyo mahina kasi hatak e., 1.3 lng kasi engine ko (98 pizza) and I think this is the cheapest way I can improve my engine performance (I could be wrong)
. Also, concerned as well with fuel consumption. So is there a harmonious compromise for engine performnce and fuel consumption? Hopefully...hehe
