February 21st, 2009 11:34 AM #1Hello,
Me problem yung Mitsubishi 1995 lancer namin. I was driving fine one day tapos biglang bumagsak yung RPM nung kotse. Pinacheck ko sa mekaniko that day tapos sbi barado na yung gas filter so pinalitan pero hindi pa rin siya humahatak at sabi nung mr mekaniko e baka daw me tubig yung gas. After some days na drain na namin ung gas but still ganun pa rin ayaw humatak.

sir,
usually you identify the make, model, year, drivetrain, and engine size of your vehicle. from what it sounds like with that mileage, the timing belt might have skipped a tooth or two. although it still runs, it can be out of synch. to verify this problem, you can either use a vacuum gauge- readings should be 17 to 21 inches of mercury vacuum with original or stock camshaft. at idle speed, or you can use a timing light and following the underhood sticker specs for checking the ignition timing. if the ignition timing is retarded, rest assured that the camshaft and the distributor is retarded too. all these are assuming you said it was running fine and just happened while you were driving. there is a possiblity too, that the ignition coil voltage is too low or leaking and the output to the plug end is too cold of a spark, you should have at least 10k volts at the spark plug end of the high tension wire.
if you checked everything as mentioned above and the engine still does not put out, please don't hesitate to contact me: jick cejoco, certified auto (guam) or check with the international automotive technicians network. and please, do not call the technicians mechanics. that is a very big insult.
thanks

February 22nd, 2009 02:21 PM #4Jick,
Are you based in Guam? How do i get in touch with the international automotive technicians network?
Can the ECU of a 2005 Lancer 1.6 engine with manual transmission be programed to yield more horsepower?
Thanks!

Last edited by tip_tipid; February 22nd, 2009 at 02:48 PM. Reason: delete and add comments

hello goodfellow,
i live on guam, not based on guam(no wanna be military lingo). i am temporarily in germany. as for your question, the information you gave is insufficient and i think (not 100%) your ecu is flash programmable. your question is and has had answers already. try asian import magazines or google it. there are forums already for your specific car. hope you will find the right website. good luck

hi tip,
i am so surprised that you seem to have knowledge of higher technology with the sensors. yet your terminology with people in the field is antiquated. the term mechanic in automotive service has been replaced by the technician as the term is almost synonymous with limited capabililty of just mechanical aspects. your maf, by the way is not a mechanical component with a reference voltage of regulated five volts and a signal that varies with cooling effect of the airflow. i apologize if i steeped on somebody's toes. but today's cars do not need just mechanics. they need people with a a little knowledge of physics, chemistry, geometry, lots of experience and patience for diagnostic procedure. this no guesswork. the website that maybe if interest is iATN.com. check it out. let's keep learning
