Isn't it kinda sad to hear the mother company of your ride is suffering from this crisis?

yup, benchph1... kaya nga binabantayan ko ng maigi itong news... buti nalang meron "sign of hope"... see the articles I've posted... lalo na dito sa Pinas... looks to me like MMPC will still be around for a long time and may even get better... looking forward, pwedeng maging sariling manufacture ng Pinas ang parts natin... may even shed light to improved service too...

MMPC debuts 2004 Lancer and Adventure

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines recently debuted their latest models for 2004 which follows its global corporate identity with the Mitsubishi Lancer and Adventure. The new ‘global look’ can be uniquely distinguished with its new front styling which is based on the design concept of Mitsubishi Motors conceived by MMC chief designer Olivier Boulay. The rationale of which, is to make Mitsubishi cars unique and having its own distinct personality as opposed to being pseudo-European or American. The unique identity is characterized by the large chrome three diamond badge prominently displayed up front and the fluid line that runs across the front mask that fades to the body to form a feeling of motion even the car is at rest.

The new Lancer boasts of new exterior styling which creates a more aggressive appeal. Receiving drastic changes is its front end which follows the new Mitsubishi ‘global look,’ which features new headlamps, fin-type grilles, and a unique pointed engine bonnet. The rear end receives an update with a duck-tailed trunk lid and Evolution-inspired rear lamps.

The interior design change comes with a two-tone combination of bluish gray and beige. The seats have been redesigned to give more comfort as the rear seats now have a higher hip point to give more legroom. On MX variants, leather seating is standard while wood grain trims adds elegance to the cabin. Improved NVH management comes with a stiffer body shell, re-tuned suspension, and extensive use of sound and vibration insulators for a smoother and quieter ride.

The new Lancer is powered by a 4G18 1.6-liter SOHC 16-valve cyclone engine. The Euro-2 compliant engine produces a maximum power output of 110ps*6200rpm while pulling 14.1kg-m of torque at 4200rpm. The engine is coupled with an INVECS-III CVT transmission with 6-speed Sportronic for the MX and GLS variants, while the GLX variant comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The MX variant enjoys the most safety features with 4-channel, 4-sensor ABS with EBD, and dual SRS airbags, while standard features include, driver side SRS, 4-wheel disc brakes, side-door impact beams, and specially designed headrests to prevent neck injuries in the case of collisions.

The new Lancer will be available starting the 19th of May and will be selling at a pricetag of Php698,000 for the GLX MT; Php758,000 for the GLS CVT; and Php838,000 for the MX CVT. A 1.8-liter variant was also announced to be available later in the year.

The new Adventure follows the same ‘global look’ style concept featuring a totally new front end with new headlamps, fenders, bumper, and pointed engine bonnet. The Grand Sport model dubbed to be the “middle-class man’s SUV” comes with body claddings, fender flares, rear spare tire carrier and two-tone paint scheme. “We at Mitsubishi Motors Philippines have exerted efforts to improve the features and quality level of the new Adventure,” said Mr. Kengo Takase, President and CEO of MMPC.

The interior of the top-trim Grand Sport variant now comes with single-seater bucket seats up front, leather and fabric seat material combination, center console, tray and cupholders at the back of the front seats, titanium accents on the control panels and white meter gauges. To improve seating comfort, the seats are now thicker and contoured with plush seating materials for a more comfortable and relaxing interior. New front facing third row seats are also standard on the new Adventure. Road and engine noise is minimized with more insulation with heat and sound absorbing material.

The 2004 Mitsubishi Adventure is scheduled to hit the dealerships in May 2004. The new Adventure comes in seven variants with the following introductory prices, 2.5 Diesel GLX M/T – Php740,000; 2.0 Gas GLX M/T – Php690,000; 2.5 Diesel GLS Sport M/T – Php795,000; 2.0 Gas GLS Sport M/T – Php785,000; 2.0 Gas GLS Sport A/T – Php838,000; 2.5 Diesel Grand Sport M/T – Php925,000; 2.0 Gas Grand Sport A/T – Php970,000.

Sana dinagdagan na nila ng turbo... and further improved yung suspension... at nilagyan ng engine protector/cover dun sa ilalim (like in the Pajeros and Strada)... para SUV na ang dating. Oh well.

another bad news...nabasa ko kanina lang sa financial times....
Mitsubishi Fuso HQ..raided and being investigated for hiding complaint and supplying wrong information to investigators related to complaints of faulty wheel hubs and breaks yata....

110ps*6200rpm lang yung max power ng engine ng 2004 lancer? kala ko naman pati yun eh improved na... maganda nga lang ngayon kasi may 4 wheel disc brakes and ABS w/ EBD na.. tsk, pero mas ok pa rin yung 2000 lancer namin na 115ps*6000 rpm ang engine, hehe!... haaay... hindi siya kagaya nung 2004 lancer sa states kahit pareho sila ng design...

that is the newly developed 4G18 engine. mitsu paired it with a CVT tranny that supposedly saps less crank horsepower. making almost of all those 110 ps reach the wheels. unlike conventional transmissions which saps 20-25% of the crank hp...

conventional Tranny
- 115 crank hp - 20% = 92 wheel horsepower

CVT
- 110 crank hp - 10% = 99 wheel horsepower

btw afaik the 2000 lancer with a 4g92 engine makes at least 124 ps.
