1. Sir if you can afford something within the price range of a Civic, Lancer, Altis, Impreza and higher, then this should really be of no consequence financially. Malay mo, will save you a blown engine down the road

Not to defend MMPH, but not all cars and engines will be the same and baka recommended talaga for the 4B11 engine setup is to have the oil changed after 1k. Try checking with other service casas to see kung required ang oil change after 1k kms.

2. Sir tig 5K din lahat ng kotse namin - we only have Hondas and Toyotas at home though. I'd also refer back to my first paragraph - mahal mahal ng kotse, tinipid pa sa maintenance. That's just asking for it.

You can always choose to miss every other 5K PMS, pero if you intend to keep the car for long and kung nasira ang kotse in the long term, it will be easy to pinpoint why.

About the 1.8L Lancer, I agree 1000% - would really give the civic a run for its money, seeing how the 2.0L lancers are priced in the range of 1.8L civics.
I think you miss the point. I didn't say the buyer of this car should miss a PMS, what I was trying to figure out is why the PMS is every 5k in the first place.

For comparison: the new honda's, the mazda's and the fords have PMS scheduled every 10k. Hindi sya a matter of tinipid ng buyer. Yun talaga schedule. So I was just wondering why the difference. I was thinking, kung diesel siguro dapat 5k PMS nga, pero a modern gas engine should be like that (every 10k PMS that is). Pero un-informed opinion ko lang nmn.

Although regarding the 1k checkup - as far as I can tell, synthetic daw ang nakalagay dun sa brand new car. You can ask your SA if you have this car, pero the initial info I got was synthetic daw sya. So why would it need to be replaced so soon?

Baka nga kelangan - but the reason elludes me.
