Pero parang mas important sa atin ang personal comforts instead of sacrifice for a national good. Is that the case?

Pero sumusunod ba tayo sa mga traffic rules to the letter? No running of red lights? No paying off cops to avoid the hassle of a seminar?

Parang naging society tayo ng mga nakakalamang. Using money to bypass things.

At dahil dun di tayo magpapalamang din. So if our country should need us to perform the highest sacrifice would we be ready to do so?

(rememeber the line in the anthem..."ang mamatay ng dahil sa 'yo.")

This is an honest question and honesty is the best policy.

    kill or be killed.

now about those israelis, imo, our rotc and their trainings are different.in pinas what we do is march and march except for those students who are willing enough to train rigorously.and mind you, some nations, including this tiny island, rotc is not just a unit, they are required to stay inside a military camp for real military training and that is 2 painful years.and that makes them capable to face the real combat.

If you took an oath to be a citizen of whatever country you're in, they you better be ready to lay down your life for that country.

Of course, that doesn't mean we can't volunteer our services to the Philippines if she issues a call for help. I would. I'm still in pretty good shape. So long as it's clear that Uncle Sam owns my sorry b*tt.

I think the other thread mentions kung ok lang ibalik ang ROTC? And not about nationalism.

If I hate and loath ROTC, it doesn't mean I hate my country in the end.

I'm willing to kill for my country more than die for it.

"...ang pumatay ng dahil sa iyo..."

    That's my sentiment.

yep. proud to be a filipino.

my great grand dad died leading a band of guerillas. He was part of the USAFFE who escaped when the japanese took over tanuan, leyte. too bad he didn't get to see the liberation.

my other grand dad fought with guerillas in ilocos norte too. he told me all about it when i was a kid. he said he was so scared when they were pounded by artillery barrages for two weeks.

if in my lifetime the philippines gets attacked, i'll take up arms to defend the country, no questions asked.

We can die ng walang kwenta. Like the story of Elsa and Lando. Better than dying a senseless death.

Joining the army to die for our country? Now this is senseless, since war is senseless. Negosyo lang ang gera.

To be clear: di ko binayaran ang ROTC at my own will. They (the officers, most of them ay yung mga engot na reserves, yung mga feeling san-op-a-gan at mga gedemit pipol) mandated us to pay or it will be the end for us students.

Now regarding, killing the corrupt politicians and Abu Sayyaf, you took it literally. Killing is not the be all, end all to all problems.

The general content of the question is: will you die for your country? I said yes, more than die for it, I'll kill for it.

as of now...no!! but who knows if war really erupts.....but come to think of it kung meron talagang war, I don't think meron akong magagawa or matutulong...just a couple of air assault sa atin ubos na tayo..I think, not even our military can protect us from attacks...

How would they have ended it for the students? No one made a stand against the corruption? Like a stand against an enemy?

OT: but that may be the prob here. Peeps taking the easy way out rather than change a system. Could that co-relate to protecting the country? That will demand a stronger stand against a bigger foe.

Ready to kill to preserve our freedom? Well it can best happen when one is ready to take a stand. Rather than surrender to the path of least resistance.

If only leaders are doing the same sacrifice as you expect, the citizen of the country will never have this mind setting. Ika nga eh, there should be a role model.

For one thing, you will see majority if not all of filipinos working/living in other countries than the philippines are a very good follower of other countries laws.

This is a question that's not easy to answer for most.

Of course, i'd be more than willing to fight for the country, knowing that in the process, i may have to give up my life.

You see, if no one will take care of our land, time will come that we won't have any land, freedom, and sanctuary.

this is a dumb question....would you give up your life if someone tries to take your piece of land? Everybody would.
