2.0 HP window of any brand is usually larger ... also if inverter type, 1.5 HP window of some brands are the same size as 2.0 HP ...
My son and I just finished cleaning the air conditioning unit this afternoon. The condenser is corroded due to neglect. Anyone here has suggestions on how to stop or at least minimize the spread of corrosion aside from regular cleaning?
By the way, usual charge for cleaning is 400 Pesos. I said to my youngest son that we saved 400 since we did the cleaning. So I followed it up by saying that I will take 200 from it and the other half, he share it to his older brother. He is more than happy to comply.![]()

For a small bedroom that has a single bed, headboard , study desk, a small cabinet. Is it more practical to just install a 0.6hp conventional a/c than a 1.0hp inverter? Will the power consumption be just about the same?
I'm asking because a relative of mine said that their contractor advised that since the bedroom is so small, a 0.6hp regular a/c will have the same power consumption as a 1.0hp (the minimum for an inverter-type a/c) inverter a/c.
I've seen the room and the 0.6hp Panasonic a/c was able to cool down the room in, I'm guessing, about 3 minutes. And this was with the afternoon sun hitting the window of said room.
So, tama nga kaya na if yung a/c ay talagang suitable sa size ng room magiging pareho lang ng inverter type a/c ang power consumption?
Could be possible if you simply go by the numbers which is: an inverter saves 40% electricity than a conventional one, ergo 1.0 hp at 40% savings = 0.6hp consumption. I hope an EE here can make an accurate comparison. If this is true, you save 50% upfront on unit cost.

It depends on the size of the room (area). Meron ba 0.6 hp? AFAIK 0.5hp ang commercially available. As per DOE guideline, a 17 square meter room will require a 0.75hp unit while 1 hp is for up to 22 square meters. You will need to factor in the height of the ceiling as well (should be up to 2.5 meters high). I changed mine from 0.75hp to 1 hp on a 15 square meter room due to higher ceiling. Sizing of the unit must be right as a smaller unit will consume more energy to cool the room. On the other hand, a bigger unit will make the room damp. For power consumption, convert the hp rating into kilowatts by multiplying 0.746 and the number of hours the unit is used to arrive at the kwh-hr which used as the basis for Meralco charging. Of course, as mentioned you have to factor in if the unit is overstressed due to undersizing. Hope this helps.
Samsung inverter... overnight siya araw2... so far for 5 years wala pang repair...yung ordinary lang na inverter ng samsung binili namin sa local appliance store ...

We don't have actual data to confirm durability or non durability among the brands. Of course, the only ones complaining are those with problems. What percentage do they comprise of?
I've read a complaint stating that they would never buy this brand any more because of durability issues. Only to find out the real cause was the fried lizard. Their solution was to buy a different brand. LOL!
Also, customer negligence. During a brownout, did they pull the plug to protect from power surges? Have they grounded it properly? Did they check the voltage whether it's fluctuates from 220v to 190v? Did they follow periodic maintenance? Are they cleaning the filters regularly? Things like these can and will shorten the life of the product if not properly addressed.
A 0.5/0.6 HP aircon will have to be working 100% almost all the time to cool a room compared to a 1.0 HP aircon ... really depends on the room size ... too large an aircon might make it uncomfortable at night because too much power ...
A 1 HP aircon might be able to cool a 22 square meter room when it is still brand new and conditions are favorable ... but when it is older and the weather is extremely hot, it will not be running efficiently ... we replaced a 1 HP to a 1.5 HP and the electric consumption was almost same or lower ...
Air conditioner guidelines should be in cubic meters instead of square meters ...
