A 0.5/0.6 HP aircon will have to be working 100% almost all the time to cool a room compared to a 1.0 HP aircon ... really depends on the room size ... too large an aircon might make it uncomfortable at night because too much power ...
A 1 HP aircon might be able to cool a 22 square meter room when it is still brand new and conditions are favorable ... but when it is older and the weather is extremely hot, it will not be running efficiently ... we replaced a 1 HP to a 1.5 HP and the electric consumption was almost same or lower ...
Air conditioner guidelines should be in cubic meters instead of square meters ...

i can lower its thermostat setting or turn it off.

May 21st, 2018 09:51 AM #3Same here. This summer i noticed that the A/C compressor in our room with "sakto lang" A/Cs have not been disengaging. I'd rather get an inverter type then up it by 0.5hp.
