i dont know about the other regular screw but i read somewhere na kaya daw naimbento ang philips screw long long before it was called philips, is bec. it has some religious connotation. noon araw kasi uso ang paglock ng mga devils/demons either sa box, sa room etc. and by using a crossed Philips screw, hindi talaga sila makakalabas by way of the screw hole

    hahahaha! sinapian ba?

hmmm..... the way i see it eh parang early days ng computer wherein walang standards kaya kanya-kanya ang manufacturers ng design ng slots....

Kung bakit slotted at cross/philips type ang common, i guess it is more cheaper and efficient to produce these type of heads lalo na sa maliliit na screws.

Kagabi nga, may post si OB na may nakasulat na ganito sa bottom ng reply nya.
Don't mind my posts. They are all jokes coming from my hollow mind.

Pero na-delete yung reply ko kay OB. Ewan ko bakit......
