Sa BGC tinanggal yan turn left anytime on green (yung kabila), di umubra sa Pilipinas hahaha.

It is actually practiced widely in the US. Was there a left turn signal?

Most probably because they're used to the international traffic law that in the absence of a left turn signal, you can turn left with caution when your light is green...

US driving is on the aggressive end ...

Like here? Yup. When turning left on a green light, cars are often at the middle of the street. If there are breaks in the opposite traffic, I'll cross halfway. If I see there's no way I'll be able to turn left except on a green arrow, I stay put behind the pedestrian lane.

Being in the middle of the intersection is not that bad. If the light turns red and I'm still in the middle? The oncoming traffic has no choice but to let me get out of the way because they're not going anywhere until the intersection is clear.

The important thing is to stay in your lane. be mindful of the lines on the street when making a left turn. If you're in the inner lane, no choice but to stay on the inner lane. If you're on the outer lane, sometimes you turn to a street where there are additional lanes. In real-world driving, the outer lane driver has the choice of staying on the current lane or moving to the next lane (usually on the right).

But, if you're taking the driver's written test, you're supposed to stay on your lane and then signal intent to get on the right lane. Move over when it's clear.

Quite common in SG and HK too.

This won't fly sa PH. Especially after seeing uls' post about people turning left and eating up the opposite lane turning right [emoji85] The idiots will probably feel entitled to just turn left and expect the incoming traffic to stop.

There is only one place I know where you can turn left on a red signal - New York City. As long as you are entering a one-way street but only after stopping first.

Most other states, you can make a left on a green but you have to yield first.

What you described, I do all the time driving in the US... If you wait outside the zebra zone for the opposite traffic to free up for you to make a left, it will never happen... You can actually make a u turn unless there's a sign prohibiting it...

NYC? Meh. It's not bad there. Whenever we visited there, I put in some moves I learned when I drove in Turkey. Cake. ;)

Now driving at eastern Turkey..... That's scary.

At home resting. I did yard work yesterday and I suspected I have mild dehydration. Sure enough, my urine was dark. So, now? Comfy with air conditioning and ice-cold water.

Where Are You Now?
