June 6th, 2006 01:37 PM #1hindi Tip sa Karera ng kabayo
Is it somethig given bec of extraordinary job?
Is it a standard thing after a job is done?
Is it a deposit so on your next visit you get more special treatment
or
You just feel sorry for the guy thinking he may not be getting paid of what is right for his job

TIPS actually means
To Insure Prompt Service if you're speaking of historical terms.
In short, parang lagay for the next visit...
It can also mean "Thanks In Payment"

June 6th, 2006 02:22 PM #4jut like in any barbershop TIP seems to be a standard
in Motoring services, parang ganon na din.
Wala nang pride sa work they just expect a tip even if it is a lousy job

Gratuities. Regardless of the etymology... I read in some travel guide that the Philippines is not a tipping country. Hence the service charge in most restaurants. I leave more for extraordinary service, or 10% in places where they don't charge for service. Cab fare is usually rounded up to the next 10, plus 10 if the driver is corteous and careful. I always give tips for any non-food service, e.g. spa, barber; more if the service is better than usual.

Kasi ibig sabihin something is wrong.
I remembered we ate sa Hard Rock dati sa Boston and our waitress had a really b1tchy attitude, tapos mga 10 kami nun so nagkaroon na ng mandatory additional 5% ata of fixed 15% tip (di ko maalala), nung magbabayad na kami, yung friend namin na taga Saudi (son of a Prince ek ek) refused to give a tip and contested the mandatory charge they made.
Reklamo kami harap-harapan dahil sungit padin nung nagseserve (para syang asian+samoan-ish ang dating yung waitress) when we were explaining why.
Eventually di na sinigil sa min, di nadin kami bumalik ever hehe.
