I have a tool kit that I transfer to the car that I will be using for the day.
Consists of:
1 set combination open/box metric wrenches
1 set metric sockets
1 set hex wrenches
1 set torx wrenches
vise grips
pliers (two sizes)
assorted (+) and (-) screwdrivers
assorted bolts, nuts, washers
a tube of all purpose grease
assorted lenghts of wire
emery paper
a can of penetrating oil
a 12 volt trouble light
a small flashlight with extra batteries
a portable car battery charger
jumper cables
a can of DOT 4 brake fluid
a litre of engine oil
a litre of ATF
and misc other stuff.
All neatly packed in a grab and go toolchest.
jack, tied him and put a gag so he can't shout. it's been 2 days now and i can still hear him kicking the trunk once in a while.
seriously.
jumper cables
jack
bottle of water
engine and atf oil, sobra when i changed oils
flash light
1 jack stand

Spare tire, service jack and lug wrench. A properly maintained car and carefully planned trips should not need a whole lot of baggage
no ballet flats. "flat" is persona non grata in my trunk.
the usual tools that came free with the car, the requisite EWDs, and a working spare tire.
2 liters of drink-quality water, for the human and/or for the car.
a set of spare bulbs, one of each type (yes, including dash bulb and ceiling bulb).
2 blocks of wood, to chuck my tires when jacking.
basahans, change of decent clothes, heavy cotton gloves (latex gloves don't last the first three lugnuts).
wet ones.
heavy duty electric tire inflator (not the toy inflator costing less than 1K! the one that costs +2K).
