I agree with CVT. If you are at least equals, it can be viewed as insulting. Kung tauhan mo dati eg driver, helper, messenger or staff etc that's a nice gesture.

but my problem sometimes are those paying my resto bills without my knowledge... particularly yung mga company suppliers, service providers, or sales agent hoping to be a supplier or service provider. yung tipong pagkuha mo ng bill the staff will say “sir binayadan na po nung nasa table na yun”. tsk! tsk!

it’s a company policy kasi not to accept favor from suppliers. If really unavoidable, we can go out or eat with them pero kami magbabayad.

If that's the case bro.,- I would approach the supplier who footed the bill and would say "Thank You,- but this is the last time please. [Else you'll be out of our Approved Vendors' List]".... Appreciative and yet threatening....

Same as you, - the most that we could get from a supplier is a free lunch,- but with prior knowledge....
