may pumasok na blue and white parakeet budgee sa bahay recently and nailagay namin sa maliit na holding cage. i'm guessing she was starving because she was attracted to the cages of the african lovebirds in our terrace w/c has got loads of food in it and around them (birds are messy eaters). now, i'm not sure what to do w/ it. papalayain ko ba o bibilhan ko ng mas malaking cage tapos bumili pa ng isa pang budgee para may pair siya.
so far the bird looks healthy naman although medyo tahimik siya w/c means she's not comfy 100%. the chirping fluff ball is obviously domesticated because she isn't deathly afraid of people w/c means it wouldn't survive out in the urban jungle.

that's an option, alright. but then these budgies aren't built to live w/o a flock to forage w/ and to protect them from predators. they're also endemic to the australian outback w/c is a far cry from our local concrete environ. these domesticated birds will be lucky to survive several days out there all by its lonesome.
having said that, one thing i'm wary off is the new bird may be disease carrying w/c could infect the other feathery critters. kaya as of the moment, talagang medyo isolated siya.
btw, parakeet budgies rarely kill each other. they are capable of maiming and wounding w/c could result to a deadly infection but direct murder isn't a high probability.
now, african lovebirds though are a different story. their beaks can kill their own kind or smaller species of birds in minutes if they encroach on their territory. these angel faced cuties - they don't peck, they bite severely if agitated.

November 9th, 2022 01:07 PM #35460now that you mention it,
that is a real concern...
introducing a stranger creature, no matter how seemingly innocuous, into a strange environment.
the burmese python in the continental usa,
the squirrels in our neighborhood (pinakawala dahil na-a-awa daw siya... hayun! nag-multiply.),
the tilapya!
the south american killer bees inching their way northward,
the so-called water lilies clogging our freshwaters !!! (actually, they're water hyacinths.)
parang some of the countdown timers along taft ave manila, aren't functioning today... or am i...
