So is this a case of "great minds think alike" or "fools seldom differ"? [emoji28]

I had an ice cream maker bought from the US with 120v and 50 watts rating.

I wonder what ampere step down transformer i need. According to google, the amperage should be less than 0.5 amperes, ergo x5 I need only 2.5 amps transformer, so those mini travel transformers should do?

I have a 300 amps and a 500 amps step down, but they are heavy so if the light ones will do, I will buy so that it can be "permanently" part of the plug.

Gonna post this query also at the what you bought thread for max viewership. Thank you.

It is important that you get a step-down transformer that has enough power (watts) rating to deal with the power requirement of the appliance. Something like 500 watts will do, or even 200 watts as it has enough to deal with the surge.

    50 x 2 = 100 watts. (x2 for starting spikes.)
get the ordinary 120 watt transformer, for good measure.
the 60 watt model might get too hot.
but if you can borrow one before buying one, to see if it gets hot or not...

"not all transformers of the same advertised rating, are equal."

Good point, ninja. Kapag mali ang frequency ng power outlet puwede bumigay yung motor.

The only power outlet transformers I've seen at malls that can outlet 50 Hz are from UPS's. There are industrial step down transformers that output 50Hz but these are impractical for household items.

60 Hz bro ninja, yung transformer cycles 60, pareho ba yun?

watts pala usapan dito, not amperes ata, 50w yung appliance, thus x2 or x3 ata need nya, so 300 watts and above pwede?

yung panther 500w, cycles 60, yung newstar 300w, walang nakalagay.

Edit: yung Newstar pala may 50/60Hz sa input, sa output walang sinabi kung ilang Hz
