And why do we still need to fill up parents name when adult na yun applicant? Like sa DFA passport? Kahit senior citizen kailangan pa rin fill up yun parents name nila.

it helps, when another person has the same name as you, and the authorities had to check on your identity and lineage.

i had a teacher once, who always insisted on including "S" as his middle name, because that was the only differentiator, daw, from a katukayo who had a criminal record.

Doesn't DFA passport needs birth certificate and parents details are already on the birth certificate?

    check and counter-check, po.
the more detailed, the better, and the more detestable to fill up, also.

That's why it doesn't make sense, kahit renewal you have to fill up details na dapat nasa kanila na.

I believe parents' lineage / citizenship is important information that's why they ask for it. Because your citizenship is determined by your parents' citizenship. That's how it is in our country. Unlike, say, the USA where the fact that you're born there, you're already a citizen.

Ah yes, that's another matter, altogether. DFA renewals and the fact you have to fill up the same application over and over again as if your parents name will change, or your gender will change, blah blah blah. I had the same qualms about DL renewal, but the last time I renewed, I was surprised I did not have to fill up an application form anymore. At least LTO has imporved in that aspect.

Passport renewal? What citizenship question they need? The fact the a person is renewing their passport means they're a citizen.

Kahit din naman sa visa application. Kelangan parin ng parents name. Old old man had already forgotten his parents details pero pinayagan parin. I guess, it is just a universal countercheck din ang parents name.
