There are those that work not because they have to but because they want to. For example, we have a director whose family owns one of the household name products here in the PH. I don't think her salary is enough for her outfits e she has children pa.

I also have colleagues when I was a fresh grad that have better cars than managers that are old enough to be their parents. Usually they work just for experience and would quit after 3 to 5 yrs.

The office is not much different from the dynamics at school naman.

True. I once had a colleague whose ride during weekends is an LC200 while we use Avanza as company vehicles. Talk about downgrade

Parati din nasa US para lang manood live NBA games.

a colleague, very simple way of life.
    one day, "dr... naka-volvo kah!"
"dr. d, demands of the profession. medical director daw ako, so dapat volvo ang ride ko."
several years pass, then we meet again.
    "dr... naka-corolla ka nah!"
"dati kasi, sagot nang kumpanya ang maintenance. ngayong retired na ako, hindi na nila sagot. ang mahal nang maintenance nang kotseng yon, ha."

    another colleague,
one of the first to drive a volvo to the workplace.
one day, wala nang volvo. camry na "lang".
    "edwin, anong nangyari sa volvo?"
"tumutulo ang oil pan. hindi nila ma-ayos. eh 'di pinalitan ko. ok tong camry. walang sakit nang ulo."
we both used to commute, nakalambitin sa likod ng puj.

a brother in the profession, used to make cuento about having only three days in the workweek, when he was abroad, studying.

    tuesday-wednesday-thursday are all working days.
friday, he prepares to go to the mountains.
    saturday-sunday. nasa mountains.
monday. arrive back home and rest.
    "so anong natutunan mo?"
"that it's nice to go to the mountains."

in contrast, (buhat bench here), si dr. d,
i went to the hospital on a saturday, to have some medical journals copied (self-service! labor there is very expensive.)... only to find... "chris! it's saturday! what are you doing here?"
"same thing you're doing, dr. d. now, fall in line. nick and christina are in the next room, in line ahead of you. or, i can make you guys extra copies of what i'm doing. i suspect, we are all copying the same things."

    reminiscing.

    we have something similar.
sons of prominent specialists, would go into another specialty.
it's difficult, being compared to the dad. someone will always find something which "your dad did better than you".

Is it suspicious that a car shop constantly promotes themselves in the comments of a Facebook group? They will comment on every single post in the group of someone asking for maintenance/repair advice.

When I go to other shops that specialize in these kinds of cars, they will always ask to set an appointment and return in a few days because they're always full.

I'm trying to look for an alternative shop because my usual shop keeps on trying to sell me a 25K battery

I used to have a 4 days work week and a 3 days weekend. Pinayagan ng boss ko. Provided that I work 10 hours a day.

Maybe same scheme can be implemented sa mga output driven position and doesn't really need to interact with clients and colleagues on a daily basis. Or a team that can have this flex day basta wag lang sila same day of the week mawawala so they still can cover each other.

I would definitely stay away from a business like that, it's true na those that are really good hindi naghahabol ng client :P

    well,
if the job is output-driven, and don't need cooperation from others, then i suppose one can design one's own work schedule.
but if one's job includes entertaining callers and visitors... who will do that on your day off?

    tama ba pagkaintindi ko?

a car repair shop is commenting on facebook posts asking other people about repair/maintenance advice?

so kulang sa experience mga tao ng shop

    they're crowdsourcing

Out of warranty european car, it starts a bit slow but there is no code thus the shop doesnt know where to start. They say it might be the battery but again there are no battery related codes and the battery is only a year old. Its not the starter either since it starts fast when its hot.

A lot of car FB groups are now infiltrated by car shops and sellers. Make a simple query thread about say a busted light and its automatically flooded by replies of "on hand sir/ma'am!", "PM sent", "meron tayo sa shop!".

Recently I made a simple query on a Philippine car dealer's FB page on whether their newly launched SUV had EPS or conventional hydraulic powersteering. Instead they PM-ed me a link to visit their site. I repeated the question and again the same reply. So the third post was "I am talking to a bot right? I wish to speak to an actual agent" and still the same canned response. A few days later a bank agent PM-ed me offering to help with financing. Weird.

reminds me of a close friend of mine, he was gifted an expedition by his parents, his first job was sa corporate bank, he parks his Expedition a block away or a different car park level from the bank corporate office because his boss daw drives a toyota corolla. nahihiya siya makita with the expedition.

    in our workplace,
one of the richest practitioners, drives the family hi-ace of several versions old..
one of the most respected senior doctors, takes the LRT to and from work. one day, na-late siya. "nakatulog ako sa LRT."

in a certain subspecialty, there is a cold war being waged in the parking lot. the drivers compare their marsters' cars. pa-bonggahan.
a friend, to get it over with, got a good-condition but older MB. apparently, in that circle, MBs command respect, even if they are older, if they are in pristine condition.
"so dr. d, i got a chedeng. para wala na silang masabi."
