One thing that irritates me about automobile publications is the lack of detail when it comes to possible repair costs. For example, everyone gushes about all the new safety devices being built into cars. But, what if something goes wrong?

For example, the new safety devices often make use of video cameras and other sensors mounted at the rear-view visor and windshield. What if a rock or other debris smash my windshield? Normally that would be a $200 replacement glass. But with new cars and gizmos? A new windshield might cost what? $1k or more? I don't like the sound of that.

Oh, well. That's what insurance is for.

Car Manufacturers seem to be following Apple’s planned obsolescence strategy making repairs very expensive and very difficult for owners to do on their own.

It's already happened twice to our 2013 Nissan Rogue SV. But, it didn't have any new safety device on the glass either. Our insurance covered both.

My old 1991 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo went through at least, 4 windshields within a 2-year period. My insurance covered all 4. Still. Dealing with them was a hassle.

I'm sure they will understand your situation. Maybe ask for a raincheck?

I don't know how people can survive with just the laptop trackpad. I've only been using it for an hour because I ran out of batteries for my mouse and my fingers are starting to hurt already

of course they won't be happy!
but you can try and make it up to them, by treating them in the near future to ... somewhere.

I agree, it would feel weird to use a mouse with a Macbook. I am using an HP Chromebook, though. Try ko muna without a mouse for a week haha

No one is a failure until the person accepts it...
