Right out of school, foreign school grads automatically are JVP in Corporate.

economists noticed mababa ang US millenial household formation eventhough the population (25-34 yr olds) is rising
dapat sabay tumataas ang population and household formation
ang nangyayari US millenials are not yet starting their own families
many are still living with mom and dad
economists looked for the cause and found out that many US millenials have a lot of student loan debt and it's making them delay household formation
These people don't have the intelligence nor the skill to get an academic or athletic scholarship. These folks also would not want to take a chance serving in the military. They don't have the extra money so they resort to getting a loan.
Some kids in the US just don't bother getting a college education so they just go find meaningful work right after high school.
many US millenials start their adult life with a lot of debt and they're not earning much so they have to delay starting a family

Add to the fact that millennials don’t save.

Good news po yan Sir.. Ako din tinigilan ko na yan years before..

Pag uwi sa pinas super hangin, sila the daw the best sa bartending blah blah...
Would you know why they still stayed in the US? I think yung iba pinaninidigan na lang, yung Uncle and Aunt ko where I currently live now, my Uncle was a lawyer and my Aunt was a dentist in the PH. They were telling me, when they left for the US in the 70s nahirapan sila walang house help, umiiyak cousin ko when she had to wash the dishes and begging them to come home to the PH. My Uncle had to work in a hotel as a staff. He told me yung receptionist sa hotel na pinoy, saw him and another Filipino nagtutulak ng luggage and the receptionist said "yung 2 abogado nagtutulak ng maleta" (something to that effect) OMG! What an ahole.
Either tamad or walang oras? I find healthy food cheap here in the US. Dito USD3 worth of mushrooms, more than a week ko kinakain araw araw. Healthy fruits (pang keto) like berries 99c lang isang pack. Lettuce na 5 heads, USD3 din lang ata. Fresh Salmon, cheese and nuts (almond, pistachio, pecans etc) ang mura din, definitely easier to go low carb here. Yun lang, you have to prepare talaga.
Sa bahay pala we drink individual bottled water kasi USD1.99 lang for 24 pcs of 500 ml. Siguro yung matataba choose the easy to eat food lang. I don't eat fast food here kasi namamahalan ako
Exception ata yung pinay na kilala mo? All my first degree cousins from my Mom's side, their parents paid for their University. When they got married, they were given either money or a house to help them start. That's a very Filipino trait yung parents talaga bahala sa college at start up pag nag asawa.
I was also supposed to study in the US for college which my Aunt and Uncle (who has no child) offered to pay for. Pero ayoko talaga umalis Manila and that's too huge a favor, nakakahiya. So I thought the college student loan problem is only a caucasian problem.
That's true. I live with my second degree Uncle and Aunt, hindi naman ako pinapabayad but my Mom said out of politeness, I also have to give money for my usage of kuryente and water. I know tatanggi but my Mom gave me instructions to give a Thank you card just before I leave and enclose the money there. I have another Aunt who is well off, na definitely hindi ko kailangan magbigay but I don't wanna live with her kasi boring.
My daughter makes use of federal grants such as a Pell Grant. She also qualified for military grants (eg H.H. Arnold educational Grant) that are available to dependents of active duty military and retirees. Whatever is left (if any), we paid. She also maintains a 4.0 GPA. I think she has one year to go and she's free of student debt.
She also works when she's not in class. So, each semester is quite busy for her.
I got my BS in Computer Science last year. I used the 9-11 GI Bill and the VA. So, I'm also free of student debt.
The next one is my youngest daughter. She's not exactly academically inclined (so far). So, we'll probably have to spend more on her when she goes to college.

Ganun din. Pinanindigan lang. 2 of my aunts were CPAs here and had good jobs before deciding to migrate to the US. Then the recession hit and they had to work 2 jobs to make ends meet (one as bookkeeper, the other washing dishes at a nearby deli).
Looking at possible beater cars at Craigslist. I'm tempted to get this 2007 Hyundai Azera. Its title said rebuilt. So, it must have been in an accident. Even so, at 21k miles, that's pretty low mileage.
I always liked the Azera. It's surprisingly quick off the line (0 to 60 mph: 6.1 sec). It's quicker than that Civic Si Coupe I looked at earlier.

For the balikbayan who seems aloof and matapobre, I think the reasoning for that is that they needed to exude confidence and yabang in order to survive in the US. No one will throw you a bone in Western nations especially if you are a migrant. You need to walk the walk and talk the talk.
I guess nadala lang nya yung defense mechanism na yun when he came back to PH. Which we interpret as being mayabang.
