swelling (inflammation) is more easily seen, when it occurs just above the bone.
nabugbog lang po ang soft tissues ninyo, kaya siya namaga.
normally, when soft tissue is bugbog-ed from the outside, it is pushed downward, softening the blow, and the tissue damage.
but in your instance, your soft tissue is caught between two damaging surfaces: the fat lab outside, and the hard bone inside. in effect, doble ang bugbog sa kanya. and when it swells, the bone underneath makes the bulge more noticeable.

For that price I'd get a Herschel duffel bag instead. Personally parang tacky for me ang Lacoste bags, dunno why. I have their shirts, colognes, loafers and belts - but bags and sneakers di ko alam bat di ko type.

Herschel bags are more understated yet equally elegant and high quality.
