Interesting discussion here about wants needs and social classes. My story below is related to this.

Well anyway i took my car for a spin today and drove to antonio's in tagaytay. In the parking area of the restaurant there was a helicopter. To make a long story short, the party that owned the helicopter was in the next table.

The guy who owned the helicopter and his friends were talking about money. He was saying his dream was to have a yacht with a helipad cause his EXISTING yacht doesnt have one. His friend was talking about condos. He was being sold a P300 Million condo but was a bit too expensive for him. Yes they were talking loudly and i have a good ear. Really added flavor to my already excellent lunch.

The point is: when is enough enough? The guy had a freakin pilot with him. He was also wearing the pilot shoulder lapels that identified him as such.... so i guess he knows how to fly as well. The maitre'd (i had to ask) said he is a regular customer who flies in regularly. Yet he still wanted a yacht with a helipad. Hahahaha. Big time na sobra ...... yet for himself - kulang pa. Just goes to show the grass will always be greener on the other side.

    Nice helicopter though.

You're right about indirect effort. The mindset shouldn't be focused on the destination alone, but rather on the daily grind and the journey towards it.

Having an overarching goal gives a general direction of where you're headed, but it's the day-to-day hustle and continuous cycle of improvement that you should focus on.

Interesting points as well about the weakest skill and the importance of trying many things. These things are actually easily evident in sports, but also broadly applicable in life. Will work on my weaknesses. [emoji106]

kasi if it doesn't have a helipad, he'd have to leave his chopper at the yacht club when he goes on his yacht

if it had a helipad, he can take the chopper with him

    Something which could guide us....

On his death bed Alexander the Great summoned his generals and told them his three ultimate wishes:

    1. The best doctors should carry his coffin

    2. The wealth he has accumulated (money, gold, precious stones) should be scattered along the procession to the cemetery, and

    3. His hands should be let loose, hanging outside the coffin for all to see.

One of his generals who was surprised by these unusual requests asked Alexander to explain.

Here is what Alexander the Great had to say:

    1. I want the best doctors to carry my coffin to demonstrate that, in the face of death, even the best doctors in the world have no power to heal

    2. I want the road to be covered with my treasure so that everybody sees that material wealth acquired on earth, stays on earth

    3. I want my hands to swing in the wind, so that people understand that we come to this world empty handed and we leave this world empty handed after the most precious treasure of all is exhausted, and that is TIME.

TIME is our most precious treasure because it is LIMITED. We can produce more wealth, but we cannot produce more time. When we give someone our time, we actually give a portion of our life that we will never take back. Our time is our life.

May you have plenty of TIME and may you have the wisdom to give it away
