And now I'm questioning if I should even get a next car, as doing so would delay my savings for a house. I haven't even factored in the savings necessary to have kids yet. And after all that, I still have to consider the savings to build initial capital for a business! [emoji24]

Why would you need a new car? Your civic is not even 3. Also, your car is provided by the company diba?

Because once we get married we'll need 2 cars since we'll be working in different parts of the metro and it's not sustainable to make hatid sundo all the time.

And I was thinking that with my salary I could afford a second car. Haha wishful thinking. Kulang na kulang pa pala. [emoji23]

Maybe I should just take back the Mazda 3 instead of letting my siblings use it. [emoji23][emoji23]

Yeah a big chunk of my money will end up as loan payments. But even then kulang pa rin for the life I was envisioning. [emoji24]

Let your GF buy her own car? Pag nagka asawa pala ako expect ko din bibilhan ako bagong auto. Lol.

I'm curious, she doesn't know how to commute? I have a friend like that, hatid sundo niya GF niya to and from work. He lives in Makati. GF lives in Antipolo and works in BGC. That's dedication!

Looks like you need an additional source of income. Did you also factor in any projected salary increases? Future wife's income?

She'll have the Civic, I'm planning to buy the second car for myself.

She knows how to commute, she's been commuting since high school. Right now she commutes from her community health center to their house everyday. Even on normal hospital duties she commutes from St. Lukes to their house on her non-duty weekends whenever I can't bring her home.

We used to commute together when we were in college. I'd take two trains to get from ADMU to UPM. Then we would take a bus from UPM to Fairview. Then I'd take another bus from Fairview to crossing. Then hang from the back of a jeep from crossing to our place. We did that for 4 years. Our bonding was mealtime before commuting home and the entire 2 hr bus ride to Fairview from Taft.

Commuting is not a problem, we will if we have to. But that's not the life I want for us. I commuted today in the sweltering 40 degree heat. It was awful. If I had it my way, I wouldn't want my wife to be commuting after a 36-hour duty. Which is why I'm planning our finances now.

Yes I factored in the salary increases and my wife's future income. For the next 3 years, she'll make less than what a fresh graduate from college makes. Doctors don't make good money until they're in their mid-30s.

mental note to all of you, pag ang liligiwan nyo tiga Antipolo, Tanay, Angono, Binangonan, mag-isip isip kayo kung sosy living na kayo sa top cities like ORtigas, Fort or Makati. Those girls not worth it. you know the best test, know their mothers, yun ang kalalabasan nyan nililigiwan nyo pag naging magasawa kayo

case in point eto kaibigan ni Cathy, under na kaibigan nya. yan halos mag nakikila ko mga female sa parts na yan, dominating nang-uunder, tas ang la-loud pa, may punto na, and I think 80% tabain

I was doing something like that everyday and I've witnessed all sorts of accidents on the road in the wee hours of the night.... At one point, I though it was the end [of me] when traffic was at standstill on a bridge, it was raining hard, huge and heavy transport trucks are all around and the bridge was oscillating strongly.. Luckily it did not snap.. ... And then I decided I have to end this suffering and so I married her.. Then, it (re)-started...

Now that's dedication and forward planning.... Yeah!

Strongly ask for a car from the parents? Looking back, I feel guilty when my car was over 5 years old and I told my parents I will total my car if they don't replace it But I was young and immature when I said that. I'm lucky my parents are so patient and good to me

Ang galing mo mag interpret kasi under talaga siya sa lahat ng naging GF niya I think he likes it that way, yung sinasakal siya. Laughing stock nga siya sa barkada namin. Yung GF niya before that, hindi Pilipino (expat yung parents) malapit lapit sa Makati kasi sa Rockwell may condo, pero yung bahay sa Capitol something in QC. They had to break up kasi na assign na yung Dad ng girl sa SG. Downgrade siya talaga sa pinalit niya.

I can't do that with my parents. Mas lalo pa ask a GF to do the same to hers.

Masaya na ako sa mga kotse namin. My parents are telling me to sell. I'm asking them to keep...

I mean, if you have no car, strongly ask for it. Minsan parents kailangan lang konting pilit. If it does not work, at least you tried.

years, ago, i got what i believed at that time, a car my wife would be inspired enough as to behoove her to learn to drive.
i sold it after a few years.
she refused to learn how to drive.
but that car kept me busy on weekends... cleaning...

If I asked, it would probably be for a Vios or a City. Any more and di kaya ng konsensya ko. Di ko alam if kaya kong makahingi ng kotse ng parents for 'my use'. Buti our cars are family vehicles... walang may actual ownership. Nobody really thinks "Walang gamitan ng kotse ko" sa amin (medyo nagulat ako na car 'ownership' among individual family members, for some families, is quite common pala).

Your wife is a "princess". That's one tell (women who refuse to drive even if they have cars at their disposal)

Bait mo naman Sa family namin, only my Dad can use everyone else's cars. The rest of us, walang hiraman ng kotse. Kahit linis, may instruction ako not to clean my car. hehehe.
