As for the balancing act, at first I wanted to be as budgetarian as possible, but then ultimately decided that some things are worth paying extra for since the incremental happiness more than covers the incremental cost. Overall, it still doesn't exceed the original budget I allotted, which actually is less than half what my other friend is spending on her wedding (although they're sharing the cost with their parents so they really got to splurge a bit).

Most of the wedding ceremonies i have witnessed at sanctuario (forbes) end at 4pm (we always attend the 430pm mass) and the couple are still doing a lot of photo shots. The guests usually proceeded to starbaks for light snacks, at their own expense.

The OTD coord is the next supplier we're eyeing to book. I've read a lot of stories of how all the hard work for the preps came undone because of a crappy coordinator.

After the med board exams in September, we plan to drill down every single detail to make sure everything's taken care of.

In other news, mukhang uso na talaga mamigay ng award kung kani-kanino na lang. Tsk!

Niky Tamayo bagged two trophies (Automotive Print and Industry Feature) last night, the first for his heartwarming tribute to the Isuzu Crosswind and Mitsubishi Adventure entitled Adios, AUV, Adios in our September 2017 issue. The second trophy came courtesy of his extensive and informative coverage of last year's excise tax proposal (which has since become law, by the way), an online story entitled "Here's the deal with the proposed increase in automotive taxes."

Joke lang niky! 😀 Well deserved for those articles imho. 👌

Congratz Niky. Always been my idol when it comes to automotive journalism and reviews. Well done and cheers.

*Jut.... bro after reading your posts it reminded me about my wedding which happened many many years ago. I never gave my wife an engagement ring . Didnt have the moola.

We spent a grand total of 190k i believe for our wedding (circa 2000). Had the reception in my folks place. The food was the most expensive element if i recall. Nothing too fancy. We were so young then i dont think people cared too much. . I used the cheapest Bob's photography package i could find, and had Bernie Pasamba for the music. Your fiance is very lucky with how youre preparing for this special day. If i had to change 1 thing...maybe id have a better picture/video package. Memories and snapshots are priceless.

I've gotten her what she wanted, a nice reception venue. It was double the rate of other Tagaytay venues but we visited it and we loved it so we booked it.

Hindi siya maluhong tao. She doesn't want a designer gown, has no interest in jewleries and watches. As it is, she's very happy that I'm paying for the entire wedding plus our condo afterwards.

We both agree that we prepare for a marriage, not just a wedding. So going all out on the wedding is not on our options.

But if you'd like us to have a grand wedding, your cash gifts will be very much appreciated. [emoji106][emoji16]

We enjoy the planning part of the wedding so getting a full coord isn't part of our options. Wedding fairs and food tasting events have becone our weekend entertainment, and it feels really good when we find a supplier that we really like among the hundreds out there.

We're getting an OTD coordinator who'll be on board a few months before the wedding and will help us sort out the fine details of the execution.

A schoolmate also had her wedding at her folks' place in Corinthian. Key requirement is that the place must be able to house the guests. Unfortunately we both have very small homes. [emoji17]

We splurged a bit on the video since it's something we'd like to be able to relive many many years down the road. The photographer we booked was also very good for the price and since I'm into photography myself we were able to align regarding the style I wanted, so I didn't need to spend triple the amount on the more famous photo houses just to get the style I was looking for.

tagaytay weddings are nice pero whether you like it or not you will really take 1 whole day of your guests, as in from 10AM to 12mn talaga. why 10AM, prepare makeup, prep the car for roadtrip, and of course, the monstrous traffic jam every weekend lalo na kung SAT dyan sa Sta Rosa Exit. one has to leave as early as 1230pm for a 3pm wedding. usually mass starts at 330pm to 430pm or 5pm depende kung madami sermon ang pari, and then you'll wait for like 1-2 hours for the reception to start, kasi dami pa pictorials ng entourage. 7pm swerte simula na and if simple ceremonies, 930pm tapos na, if may singers/ ballroom dancing for the ninongs/ ninangs (PS you have to prepare for this lalo, kasi sila ang tiga-bigay ng mga 10K up na wedding / cash gifts, maaga na matapos 11pm, and then they travel back to manila, 1pm na.

I have attended 5 tagaytay wedding already, and most of the time, lagi ko sinasabi sa wife ko, ayos pwede tayo mamasyal sa Tagaytay after. wala never nangyari eto kasi talagang sagad na sagad ang wedding celebration. uwi na talaga. and worse, dalawa lang kami pumunta pagbalik puno na kami lol, kasi minsan pati makeup artist / other suppliers nakikisabay samin. yun eh kung wife ko nag-reco or my wife is so close to the bride. most of the time nga from church to reception, may pasahero na kami

    ---

re on your wife's no interest sa jewelries, dapat man lang she should cherish the engagement ring and the wedding ring, for me, this is the area na hinde dapat tipirin. in fact, this should be more expensive than the gown itself, kasi eto talaga ang forever. i had one diamond and yellow gold in the engagement rings, and 5 diamonds with white gold in both wedding rings. why white gold, less prone to scratching and more durable kasi meron pa isa layer of protection. at least give this to her, even if she says she doesn't need something like that. trust me, eto talaga importante sa bride not because pwede mo ibenta sa future lol, but jewelries are the best things to give to your wife. even sa travels, if Im going to give her something, priority ko ang jewelry over bags, or shoes or whatever uso sa kanila. yun Pandora ewan ko parang nasasayangan lang ako dun, para marketing lang eh.

I agree it will take the whole day for our guests, that's why I'm only inviting people who mean a lot to us, and who we mean a lot to. People who are worth the effort and who will make an effort.

Though she's not the least bit materialistic, she loved the engagement ring I gave her. [emoji4]

For the wedding rings, we just want something that goes well with her engagement ring and something simple and timeless for me. We'll probably buy this later down the road so we have a bit of time to scout for good suppliers.
