weight versus height is by no means a perfect gauge for health status.
but it is painless, very cheap and very easy to do. it makes for a good screening tool.
as i am sure, there are always exceptions to the rule.

lebron is not an ordinary person. he is not the norm. he is not norm-al. he and others like him, are exceptions to the rule. and i am sure, being an extra-ordinary person, his parameters of health status are not the same as the average person's. his health problems are different from the average juan's.
it would not do, to compare the average person against super-athletes.

yes doc, pero sad to say its out of date, i did some reseach, the formula is from the 1830s pa, at a time when people was smaller like rizal who was documented as below 5 feet..you are right doc, the waistline is a better gauge of obesity/overweight, formula for that is height in inches divided by 2, thats our ideal waistline..

I have a theory that the perfect waistline for men at any height is 32"

My college ex (6'+) and my cousin (5'10"+), 32" waist in their teens until now. Really nice body

I also went out with a guy who is around 5'6" and he also had a 32" waist.

Anyway, basta maganda katawan ng guy, sigurado nasa 32" +/- ang waist. Si crush ko ganda pa rin ng katawan in his 40s.

I know when I was still active-duty AF, we also had our waist measured in addition to weight and height. I always thought that was to make sure we looked good in uniform. Can't have buttons popping out at the waist. It would look embarrassing on TV.

For the total fitness index, we had our sit-ups, pushups, and 1.5 mile times added into the calculations.

I don't think too much has changed except now, the above is part of the yearly performance report. One fail in any and no promotions whatsoever.

Hard to believe my waist was 28" when I first joined. ;) But, that was at the height of my athletics.

Not hard to find your jean and slacks size here. It's much harder for a shorter guy like me. That's why my wife's friends would sometimes bring back pants for me when they came back from the PH.

Nope. I have a 32" waist now. I feel I should get my waist down to 30" like when I was younger. But, I have to go on a diet to do that. It's not gonna happen. ;)
