I'm 75% Chinese by blood and 100% Filipino by heart haven't even set foot on Chinese soil. Been born here and lived here all my life. Some people are amazing really...thought that racism is out. It's not the blood or race or nationality that makes a person. Nasa Tao po yan. Lahat nang lahi may masasamang tao at mabubuting tao.

That's true. I have Philippine blood in me. But, having been born and raised elsewhere, I don't have any particular loyalty to the PH itself. However, I have friends and relatives there. I made some lifelong friends in the few years I spent there. They're the ones I care very much about and the connection I keep with the PH. Of course, it also helps my wife is from there.

I look forward to visiting the PH every chance I get. The place never gets boring....although I grumble about the traffic and climate all the time.

Some family members retired before 50. However for some work kept approaching them (pakiusap ng kaibigan to help their company, etc.). You have to be well stashed to retire early though, mahal magkasakit.

It's nice to retire early but still have something on the side to keep you busy and your mind running.

It baffles me the way you taunt your vice president.

I read in the news that he is so corrupted and the evidence is overwhelmingly a case that should be won by a prosecutor handling the case.

But what confuses me was you taunt your vice president and his family by their physical appearance that they are dark, short, and not an eye candy to put it politically correct ( if i wrote the word ugly i might get ban again)

Is the filipino skin white? Tall? Eye candies? But the girls i got were eye candies.

Taunting your vice president physical features is tauting yourself. Pretentious people

When I graduated, there were only a handful with Latin honors... This was regular batch... In another school...

Equivalent to 27% of the graduates with Latin Honors.... That is over 1 out of every 4 graduating students.....

On a random sampling of 10 of these graduates, there's a good possibility that at least 2 of them are with Latin Honors....

IMO,- that is a very high number. Again,- trend in the university? Population? Or, the quality of the students? Maybe curriculum? Is it something that the institution should look into?

But then again, UP is UP.....

Luistro shows tougher side in UP speech | Inquirer News

Bro. Armin,- you should not be in UP strutting your stuff....

Instead, you should be listening to these people,- and we are hoping beyond hope that they could knock some sense into your airy stubborn head.

Again,- you and your DepEd,- may tinitignan at may tinititigan...

It is a shame for you to be heading that insensitive bureaucratic department.

Luistro shows tougher side in UP speech

Its easier to gripe and complain in the streets and on social media than to sit down and provide solutions to the countrys various problems.

Education Secretary Armin Luistro came out swinging at critics of the government on Sunday during the 104th commencement exercises of the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Luistro was guest speaker at the first UP graduation rites to be held in June, after the state institution shifted its academic year from June to August.

Its easier to run around naked with cloth covering ones face than to advocate for solutions to help solve poverty, Luistro said in his speech, referring to the universitys annual Oblation Run.

Its easier to shout on the streets and burn effigies than to sit down in talks to find long-lasting solutions to end hunger, ignorance and climate change.

He said it was also a lot easier to spend time and energy on pointless commentaries on social media, especially if one is not using his real name.

    Activists didnt disappoint

As at every UP graduation, student activists made their presence felt, twice. First by raising signs during Luistros speech calling for the suspension of the Department of Educations K to 12 basic school curriculum and then holding a short rally in front of the graduates as the nearly four-hour-long rites came to a close.

College of Mass Communication student chair Bea Carolino said that while they respected Luistros views on protests, the education secretary must be reminded that if there are protests, it means the people see theres something wrong and it shouldnt just be shrugged off.

She said that while concrete action, such as the K to 12 program, was important, it shouldnt be an added burden to Filipino families.

The K to 12 program added two years to the basic education curriculum and will be fully in place next school year.

Luistros statements came after he urged the over 4,400 UP graduates to become living heroes for the country, who would offer up themselves to help revitalize the Philippines.

    Grade just a number

Apart from being the first June graduates of the university, Class 2015 also has among its members the graduate with the highest weighted general average obtained since World War II. Tiffany Grace Uy graduated BS Biology with a near-perfect grade of 1.004.

Luistro commended Uy for her statement that a grade is just a number, saying it was this kind of attitude that brought change not just to oneself but also to ones community.

He reminded the graduateswho included 29 summa cum laude, 250 magna cum laude and 921 cum laudethat as they ventured out of the university they would be facing burning issues that cant be ignored anymore.

    West Philippine Sea

How will we protect our rights in the West Philippine Sea? Will there be even just one or two of the graduates who will stand up for the Philippines in the event a big neighboring country attacks the West Philippine Sea? Luistro asked. If none, then our education is put to waste.

Luistro also asked who among the graduates were willing to live in the Bangsamoro region even before the basic law was passed to get to know the people, their dreams and aspirations in order to find solutions for lasting peace and progress.

On next years elections, all the education secretary would say was, I am convinced the challenges we are facing now and in the future will be solved only by leaders who are open to listening [to the people] and remain rooted in the communities they are serving.

Grrrr. Damn Hyundai service center. They did a great job getting my car back to spec. Then, they make a booboo by not tightening enough the front passenger lug nuts.

I was wondering why all of a sudden, I started hearing grinding and bumping sounds in sync with the wheels spinning. The sounds stopped when accelerating or braking which isn't in line with the sounds that indicate mechanical problems (eg bad bearings, brake pads, rotors, etc). It's normally the opposite of what I was experiencing.

You never really know when it's your time to go.

An officemate just died after playing basketball - just fell unconcious. Dead on arrival at the hospital. He was just in his late 40s. One of our fittest triathletes, had a really healthy lifestyle.

Medyo badtrip na din in a way pero I'm thinking. . .

Etong officemate ko before may pocket wifi siya, she terminated her account.

Now wala na, ang ending almost 1 week na siya nakiki hotspot saken.

Umaga pa lang pag upo ko yun agad ang bungad saken if pwede maki hotspot.

Naiinis na ako, pag kasi na disconnect siya todo effort ako to connect her back.

Medyo mahiyain ito nasobrahan sa hiya.

How can i politely say to her na bring your own internet connection

My BFF used to bring her pocket wifi with her to work. My friends and I Ieech on her connection Maximum 4 people could connect kasi and she does not mind because this went of for several months. I should not have told her that internet distracts me from work. She stopped bringing her wifi na tuloy

BUT it's a different story with your officemate because data drains your battery so fast. All the more with hotspot! Wtf. Hindi nga kaya phone ko 8 hrs na naka data, bilis ma drain. Sabihin mo nauubusan ka ng batt sa hotspot or ask her wala ba siya balak kumuha ng bagong pocket wifi
