to some folks, being alpha is being normal. they'd feel stressed, if they weren't top dog.
to those not designed for alphahood, pretending to be one is very stressful.
i suspect, majority of us fall into the latter.
only a very few, are born alphas. "the born leaders". even at an early age like childhood play, their leadership is already very palpable.

a leader is someone who gets his people to where they want to go. it is easy, as all he has to do is to walk ahead of them by a few feet. in truth, "he's really a non-essential".
a good leader is one who brings his people to where he wants them to go.
a great leader brings his people to where he wants them to go, and makes his people believe it was their idea all along. the true alpha. famous and infamous world leaders, here.

That 300K watch you own, the 4k peso polo shirt you wear and those four SUV’s in the garage? That’s all useless now.

As for those so called “alpha” types? I’ve seen so many otherwise ‘tigasin’ & astig men turn into SISSIES when they need to be taken to the OR, even for minor procedures lang. In most cases, mas madalas duwag ang mga lalake sa hospital… makakita lang ng konting blood, kulang na lang tawagin yung mommy or asawa nila (ayaw lang pahalata).

Mas bilib pa ako at the quiet strength of a woman risking her life to give birth to her child...
I remember one of the literatures I read many years ago.... Something like "How Much Land A Man Needs...."

    "The little

    Child inside

    A man..."

    chicken and egg.
are they up there as alphas, because of their hormonal and steroid levels?
or are their hormonal and steroid levels up, because they fear going down and are doing everything to keep remaining up there?

high testosterone = more aggressive, risk-taker, higher tendency towards violence

high testosterone men are usually alphas

when a guy's alpha, the stress of maintaining status leads to elevated cortisol etc

why? competition (hey, there are other men out there who also wanna be top dog... so all that posturing and fighting to maintain top dog status takes a toll one's health)

that includes competition for mates (hey, you're not the only alpha out there so you gotta keep up that top dog status of yours otherwise your women will leave you for the new top dog)

one of the most well-loved personalities and leaders in our workplace,
"i'm the second-best there is! because... everyone else is fighting for first place."

while the study does argue well, for primates, the fact is, human intellect has a role to play.

well, in our profession, when an industry stalwart succumbs at a relatively young age, it's "siya kasi.. hindi marunong mag-relax".
but when it's a henry sy (bless him!), it's "it's about time!"
    heh heh.

IMO if your a natural alpha there is no need to strees and exert effort. It comes out naturally. It will also give you the realization that you cant have it all thus a good tactician. So no need to overly compensate on everything just to get anything you just move on.

The wannabe aplha is another story, constantly obsessed of trying to prove someting thus the undue stress.

So my take is a true alpha is to enjoy life and know how to relax, your top dog after all and you feel secure.

I couldn't agree more. I believe that alphas are born or it could be dormant but ultimately the alpha character will come out. Inate na so effortless sa kanila maging decisive, protective, strong etc.

BTT: I miss my SO suddenly. I also miss my German VP boss I'm sad that I will be in the US when he comes back in a few months
