Bought myself a blood pressure monitor. A third of the price ng Omron at mukhang accurate naman.

    • FREE iCare AD800 Medical Premium Quality Adaptor
    • FREE 4pcs AA Alkaline Battery
    • Desktop Design
    • Two User Modes
    • Stores up to 180 measurements, 90 records per user
    • Irregular heartbeat Indicator
    • Uses Measure with Inflate advanced technology to automatically measure blood pressure along with pulse rate
    • With easy access buttons for operation
    • Large LCD display for easy visibility
    • Color coded LCD screen
    • 2 years warranty

Just a few years ago I was diagnosed to be mildly hypertensive. Years prior to that I was at 140/90, at inabutan ko pa nga na within normal range pa siya dati. Though in the not so recent past, na-categorize na siya as nasa high BP range na. Kaya every APE namin yung nagbi-BP at yung doctor na rin (including our clinic's doctor) really felt concerned about it. Ilang beses na ako pinaulit ng parts of our APE just becoz of the BP result saka parang me enlargement daw sa heart area dati.

Pero especially ngayong lockdown na walang masyadong activity I really have to watch out for my BP levels regularly. I was using my late father's Omron BPM pero since ginagamit naman ngayon ng brother ko I've decided to get another one na lang. Also, once I start with cycling kelangan ko rin ng pang-monitor kung magno-normalize ba siya. I have also ordered a heart rate monitor for use while cycling naman.

many hypertensives do not feel anything abnormal at all, even when their BP is frightening the doctor to hades.
high blood pressure is a lifelong disease that requires lifestyle change, like diabetis.
key to management is BP control to acceptable levels. this is done thru diet, drugs, and lifestyle.
the problem with hypertension, is that it gradually degrades the quality of the blood vessel walls, rendering them weakened and liable to burst or make bara.

That had been always on my mind, doc. Kaya nga I watch what I eat din - well, as much as possible. Ang sarap kasi kumain. Hehe. Yes, even nag-160/100 ako hindi naman ako nahihilo or what, although somehow I can feel (or surmise?) na medyo tumataas BP ko. Maybe pag alam kong naparami ang kinakain ko na mga bawal and so I start to worry.

I am currently on Lozartan/ Clovix from my prescription from some 2 years ago. Any adverse effects to watch out for, Doc? When do I stop or kailangan ba magpalit na? I plan to continue with this up until somehow I manage to control my BP thru diet, good food and exercise.

    HPN is a lifetime disease.
one has to regularly check one's vitals, and titer or change one's medications accordingly.
of course, the above is done with the expertise of a physician, thus the regular doctors' visits.

i also watch what i eat... shortly after i gobble them up.
sayang naman at nasa plato na, at tatanggihan pa natin.
key is not allowing them on the plate in the first place.
having a knowledgeable chef, helps. "masarap na, healthy pa."
alas, such conveniences (the chef!) are hard to come by.
    heh heh.
    happy life.

the most successful weight loser that i know of, encompassing more than 10 years, hired a personal chef.

Nag-160/100 pa nga yata ako from my usual 140/90. Nasa range nung dating levels namin. So hindi ko alam kung yung equipment ba or yung nagbi-BP sa APE namin ang may problema.

when i am asked what brand digital aneroid sphygmomanometer (BP measuring tool) to get, my advice is to google for the one endorsed by the heart association.

what do i still use in the home, for family use?
    the classic mercury column type.
    it's literally the gold standard.

Etong mga off the counter digital medical meters eh very user friendly. Etong nabili ko ginagamit ko na bago ko pa binasa yung user manual just to check on the features.

What is the last thing you purchased?
