dudes, it shouldn't matter if the enclosure accepts SATA or PATA drives; when you plug it into the pc/notebook via, say usb, it will still appear as a usb device. it should have the proper electronics for "translate" SATA/PATA to usb/firewire signals. i don't think you need to check if the pc/notebook "supports" sata technology
