I would’ve brushed aside the heat and said it’s just another typical summer... except that two fans have died on us in the last two weeks.

In late April, the bathroom ceiling exhaust fan gave up. Then, a few days ago, the stand fan in the living room followed.

In both cases, the rotors weren't seized and the bushings were fine. There wasn't any burnt winding or anything either. What happened was the thermal fuse tripped. These are designed to cut power if the motor windings hit a specific threshold (usually around 115°C or higher) so it doesn't cause a fire in case the windings shorted out or the rotor seizes up. This time, however, I believe it was just the extreme ambient heat and internal dust buildup that pushed the internal temperature up and blew the fuses.

I replaced the whole exhaust fan immediately because the humidity can become intolerable, but I managed to DIY the living room fan during the weekend by fitting a new thermal fuse. I’ll fix the old exhaust fan eventually to keep as a spare.

All this to say that it’s really, really hot!

I’m tracking our electricity consumption. I noticed that consumption increases in April up until June:

Hopefully, this ushers in the start of the rainy season. Am sure Freyja would welcome that.

True. Although freyja is apparently flabbergasted with the (seemingly) strong nightly rains. I think It's the 1st time she has seen and experienced that kind of deluge. 😁

If it's true that the rainy season is here, it really is timely since the rolling blackouts were just about to become a regularity. Hopefully, the power supply will no longer be thinly stretched as it was last week.

Umulan nga kagabi Ng malakas pero mainit pa din.

Grabe Ang humidity. It's like the air feels so thick, you're breathing through a wet hanky.

Mabilis pa din ba bumaha sa Taft ave? I read that tinutukan ni dpwh Ang area na iyan pati ang stretch Ng araneta ave kaya Malaki na daw improvement.

I'm planning to watch the ph men's nat'l football team vs Guam friendly tonight at the rizal memorial football stadium and I'm steeling myself for heavy rains mamaya. Nilabas ko na nga Ang nag hibernate na Merrill hiking shoes ko na designated for rainy days pang harabas later on. 😁
