Anticipating flooded streets on my way home last night (Sept. 1, 2025), so I used the Skyway to head north from Makati. It was t0rrential rain 80% of my trip. This was the first time I had to use the high speed setting on the wipers.

Yeah the if wala sana baha it's nice to take the "ilalim" when it's raining hard because it's basically a covered road.
But apparently even the skyway flooded earlier this year.

yesterday afternoon, i was caught in a flash flood along dr. a. santos ave.
rain was hard, and the floodwaters rose in just a few minutes.
pulled over to the elevated sidewalk, along with several other vehicles.
had to wait three hours for the waters to become drive-able.
Tokyo was hit yesterday with rains about the same level as what happened to QC. Guess what binaha din, despite that famous enormous flood control system:
Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture Warned of Record-Breaking Short-Duration Precipitation, Meguro Ward Logs 134 Millimeters for an Hour (Update 2) - The Japan News
Flights hit, thousands without power as *******ial rain batters Tokyo
IMO when it's > 100mm of rain in a short period no flood control system can prevent flooding. The test is how fast the waters go down.
Edit: updated the second link because auto-censorship was mangling it. The censored word was "t-o-r-r-e-n-t-ial"

Same thing happened in QC diba? Big rain = big flood, but the waters still receded within the same day.
I'm not trying to absolve anyone of anything, just my opinion that there's still hope for QC.
Manila OTOH is f--ked lol. Projects aside too many people litter and even the restaurants don't dispose of oil and food waste properly.
Anyways more pics:

Bakit wala ako nababasa na "hinde ganyan sa Japan"?
Eh meron pa silang so called underground cathedral drainage system.

Some are saying Ondoy level, some are saying Milenyo. I am not afraid of Ondoy level kasi hindi naman binaha area namin during Ondoy pero nung Milenyo I really suffered kasi 3 days ata kami walang Meralco nagtumbahan talaga mga puno, problema ang lalaki ng mga puno sa backyard namin, though I don't think mabubuwag since it almost covers the back of our house tapos naghahalikan mga puno namin sa neighbors, kami and left and right namin both have huge mango trees. Ang ayoko talaga walang kuryente at internet![]()
