There's been some criticism about government relief efforts, about how news teams have been able to reach the more remote areas, and why they could not. Some thoughts:

    1. i'm willing to bet that private companies. media or otherwise, probably have better gear than our government. Remember the two C-130 planes that were deployed immediately after Yolanda? Those are our *only* two C-130s.

    2. The news teams are typically small groups, no more than 10 probably. Smaller groups are easier to transport, provision, etc.

    3. Speaking of provisions, i doubt if the news teams carried any significant amount of relief goods, if any.

    4. Maybe we should enlist the news teams, or their gear at least, in the distribution of relief efforts? Para hindi lang sila puro balita. i think given the circumstances they can be forgiven for not practicing "professionalism" by not getting involved in the subject(s) they are reporting on.
