When will it hit? Next week? Looks big to me.

Hopefully it doesn't become as devastating as the one we had recently.

It still shallow, no circulation yet. Hope it goes somewhere else and doesn't affect the ITCZ again...

Developing storm now inside PH area, won't intensify in 24 hrs - InterAksyon.com

(updated 6:30 pm) MANILA, Philippines-- Still reeling from a week of *******ial rains from an intensified southwest monsoon or Habagat, the country will have to brace for a developing storm that has entered the Philippine area of Responsibility on Saturday and threatens to become the eighth weather tropical cyclone to visit this year.

According to the Philippine Atmopsheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the active low pressure area (ALPA) was last spotted 1,020 km east of Northern Luzon.

At this point, it has a low probability of intensifying into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, according to Pagasa forecaster Jun Galang. But Galang said the oceanic conditions are conducive for its development.

The temperature of the waters surrounding the Philippines is between 24-28 deg Celsius and could contribute further to the ALPA's moisture content.

Based on News5's Weather Center, the ALPA, which has more than 50 percent chance of developing further into a storm, will not make landfall in the country but could pull the Habagat further into the western section of the country.

Should the ALPA develop into a storm it will be called "Helen", the eighth storm to enter the country in 2012.
