hindi Tip sa Karera ng kabayo

Is it somethig given bec of extraordinary job?
Is it a standard thing after a job is done?
Is it a deposit so on your next visit you get more special treatment

    or

You just feel sorry for the guy thinking he may not be getting paid of what is right for his job

    TIPS actually means

To Insure Prompt Service if you're speaking of historical terms.

In short, parang lagay for the next visit...

It can also mean "Thanks In Payment"

to me, it is common courtesy to give tips for any services done, but i give extra for extraordinary customer service. then again, i also give extra if the person is nice...and good looking.

jut like in any barbershop TIP seems to be a standard

in Motoring services, parang ganon na din.
Wala nang pride sa work they just expect a tip even if it is a lousy job

Gratuities. Regardless of the etymology... I read in some travel guide that the Philippines is not a tipping country. Hence the service charge in most restaurants. I leave more for extraordinary service, or 10% in places where they don't charge for service. Cab fare is usually rounded up to the next 10, plus 10 if the driver is corteous and careful. I always give tips for any non-food service, e.g. spa, barber; more if the service is better than usual.

Medyo naninibago ako ngayon sa standard 15% dito.

Sa HK standard na yung kasama sa bill yung service charge, kaya kahit di ka nagtip wala silang paki. Sanay na sila na sinisimot mga barya sa dish.

Sa US naman pag bigger restos, they'll really question you kung di ka nag tip... Kasi ibig sabihin something is wrong.

I remembered we ate sa Hard Rock dati sa Boston and our waitress had a really b1tchy attitude, tapos mga 10 kami nun so nagkaroon na ng mandatory additional 5% ata of fixed 15% tip (di ko maalala), nung magbabayad na kami, yung friend namin na taga Saudi (son of a Prince ek ek) refused to give a tip and contested the mandatory charge they made.

Reklamo kami harap-harapan dahil sungit padin nung nagseserve (para syang asian+samoan-ish ang dating yung waitress) when we were explaining why.

Eventually di na sinigil sa min, di nadin kami bumalik ever hehe.

Pero once you have service charge na in your bill, it is not necessary to give a tip anymore......unless nasa massage parlor ka

    from wordorigins.org:

The popular explanation of the origin of tip, meaning a gratuity, is that it is an acronym meaning "to insure promptness." This is incorrect.

Tip is underworld cant meaning to pass on, to hand to, especially to pass on a small sum of money. It dates to at least 1610. The verb meaning to give a gratuity dates to about a century later, and the noun dates to at least 1755. And as we've seen many times in these pages, there are no pre-20th century acronymic word origins.

Huli ka, sir max... ehehe. Ako palagi bigay tip para good service.

Sa USA naman, talagang dapat magbigay ng tip kasi hinahanap din yun ng IRS. Kasi halos lahat ng purchases dun credit card, madali lang sa IRS na kunin ang (sales ng establishment traceable to service provider) x (standard tip rate for the city) x (tax percentage) = tax. If you don't tip or undertip them, abono pa sila... so you see, peste talaga mga tax collectors.

Pero kung bad service like nangyari kay sir theveed e, paabono mo na! Ehehe.
