pwede. the car wll still run.(ganito nangyari sa akin nung naputol timing belt, auto shutoff ng engine, the car rolled.. pero kung brake prob. go to the lowerst gear muna (engine braking), then kung slow na, handbrake, neutral then patayin ang makina...to minimize engine damage..

The key here is practice. Kaya kapag may tinuturuan ako mag-drive, we always practice these scenarios.

back to the topic, sa palagay ko, yong driver/owner either nataranta or stepped on the wrong pedal. instead of hitting the break pedal, gas natadyakan. then nataranta. kahit na sabihin nating na-stuck-up yong gas pedal (which is possible), di dapat ganun kalakas ang impact niya sa bench kung he did hit the break. his speed should have been considerably slow kasi galing siya from stop position and crossing an intersection (tama ba me) and supposed to have stepped on the breaks. kahit papaano, moderate lang ang impact sana.

opinyon ko lang po yon. kasi nangyari po sa akin yon: stepped on the wrong pedal, then nataranta. kaya i make sure of the location of the pedals in relation to my heel before driving and observe proper distance (para may thinking distance and stopping distance ako). mauna na yong nagmamadali. magastos madisgrasya.

So true, if it's that easy to "hone" yourself to these situations, there won't be such a thing called "accidents"...

Unless you KNOW you're driving a crappy, defective car, there's no logical reason why your brain is prepared constantly that something will go wrong, let alone knowing what specifically will go wrong with the vehicle (brakes, steering, etc.)

Just because an elite soldier is trained constantly doesn't make him impervious in war.

I'd have to disagree with M2 and Doc here...

    theveed,

based kasi sa kwento... he just came off from full stop, was in the middle of turn (ayala to dela costa) and "lifted off the accelerator pedal to slow down"...

no mention was given if he attempted to use either the foot or handbrake... so I was assuming that he didn't & just swerved into the pedestrian lane in panic....
