    This was back in 1995 and 1996. I can't remember which gate is which. But, there is a "KATUSA" gate at the back of Yongsan. It's the gate nearest the Seoul Tower and also quite close to Itaewon. I lived right across that gate (I crossed an underpass first). The nearest landmark would be that underpass and the 7-11 next to my 3rd floor apartment (a Panasonic store is at ground level below). Also, there's a public market like a "palengke" nearby at the back.

    Add: Hey, I found it via Google Earth. The open air market isn't open anymore. The roof above is complete. The 7-11 may not be there anymore at the corner inside the enclosed area. I can't make out any 7-11 signs. Itaewon would be just south-southeast of the picture.


    As for the Koreans. They were warm to me right off the bat. That's why I was a bit surprised at their rudeness at Pinoys. Normally, it was the Japanese they got ticked off at.
