We used to add a drop of baby oil to the ink everytime we refill. This way the ink wont dry up and clog the pen. Sensitive talaga yung 0.1 - 0.3. Used to buy replacements with the body section at Joli's along Espana or St. Patrick near Recto.

LOLz.. Reminds me of Drawing 1 & 2.. I thought Autocad na lahat ngayon.

BTw im Rotring user. You need to soak the parts in hot(or preferrably) boiling water to remove coagulated ink.

That cleaning pin is so sensitive, you need not remove that unless there are mineral deposits in the barrel.

It acts like a valve, so a slight bend could jam and stuck causing ink to leak.

For me, mas maganda ang sulat ng Rotring pero masyado brittle ang body nya. I even tried Faber Castell (nung di pa sya China). Eventually, I settled with Staedtler (although prone to blots). Matibay talaga kasi siempre Germany (ewan ko lang ngayon kung German made pa rin but IMO, one should not pay that much for a china pen).

BTW, yes, use hot water para madali matanggal yung dried ink.

May mga nasira din akong 0.1 & 0.3 noon, I didn't know pwede pala makabili ng parts nyan.

ang alam mas mahal pa ang presyo nang parts or pen point assembly. as an advise bumili ka na ulit nang 1 pc. na pen na 0.1 lang dahil konti lang ang difference sa price. just becareful of using 0.1 pen very sensitive, kaya ako mas ginamit ko na lang ang 0.2 nung araw. pero in reality gagamitin ninyo ay ACAD software na pag drawing nang achitectural & engineering plans.

ME course ko and yes we still use tech pens pero for one sem. lang. at 2nd yr i'll be taking a computer-aided drafting subject already.

btt: ho may gosh! 600 ang point section! ang buong pen daw e 700 or 750 ba un. ang masakit kasi dito bago lang yung pen early jun lang binili kaya ko lang naisipang baklasin kasi nagleleak nga. and with little knowledge about this piece of equipment yun nga nabali ko yung parang needle. pwede bang palitan to ng kahit anong .1 na wire (kung meron) ? lol. could it be na ung leaking problem is a factory defect? gagamitin ko kasi bukas ang pen maybe manghihiram nalang muna ako, pero i want my pen working. baka pwedeng ibalik ko nalang sya sa store pero baka titignan nila na wala nang needle baka di tanggapin. your thoughts?

i think manghiram ka na lang muna for the meantime, alam ko hindi na puwedeng isoli ang technical pens dahil ichecheck nila yan eh. try tumingin sa sulit baka may nagbebenta kahit used na siya or bumili ka nalang kahit yun mumurahin lang basta importante may magamit ka.

agree the basics are learned using pencil pero hindi mongol #2 gamit namin; HB, H o kaya F pencil. yung tech pen pag gagamit na ng tracing paper. well, those were the days.

    * topic, ingat talaga sa tech pen at masyadong mahal, agree ako dun sa pag-add ng baby oil para di mag-clog.

Been a steadler user and messy talaga maintenance nyan.
That's right...you use oil para medyo dumulas at mas matagal matuyo.
Dati ba isang sem lang talaga yung drawing subject?
Buti na lang at least...may drawing subject pa kahit isa...kaso parang na-shortcut na yung ginawa.
No wonder why i've seen newly grads...of course knew how to draw...
but didnt know when to use a hidden line or cant properly apply the appropriate dimension lines.
    Now...thats really getting messier.
