We've been using SHARP fax machines for years (office, pc rental shop, home) and it has served us well.
Any model that uses thermal paper and auto cutter feature would do.
Why thermal paper? It's simpler to use when you only have to replace one consumable item than with more "modern" fax machines which use ink and plain paper. The ink tends to be expensive and the tray for plain paper is usually limited in the number of sheets and often the tray is open which lets the top sheet of paper get dusty and might affect the fax's paper handling mechanism later on.

Thank you for your suggestion. Been using a Panasonic model for more than 5 years and it's time to replace it.
Choice I would have made as well.
