July 5th, 2016 11:08 PM #1do you think it's time to put a stop to this nonsense of posting social media videos of erring motorists or road rage events?
The thing is these people who buy those dashcams are starting to believe that what they have is empowering. I personally it's a false sense of security.
If you have a dashcam, fine. keep the footage incognito, for maybe for future use in court if ever an untoward incident happens. but to parade all you dashcam experiences all over the internet kinda defeats the purpose of what your dash cam really is. say for example, the NBI agent Ford Expedition incident with the hood bashing, that video is already inadmissible in court because it was edited to make the other party look bad kaagad. IF it's true that he is an NBI agent, then that means he could have a gun in there.
I came from a psychological training of fight vs flight response of people especially in high stress scenarios like these. road rage is a fight or flight chemical reaction in your body that needs a release. You cannot reason with that, you cannot correct that, your dashcam will not protect your family or you if in case the other party being recorded releases all hell. but na lang hinampas lang nya hood, if he did something more extreme, then the traffic in that area will only worsen.
now, there's another video roaming around about this woman driver who deliberately fought it out with counter flowers in Mandaluyong Pilar St. all 31 cars of them. she even took out the dashcam and pointed it to every erring driver. that is very dangerous. for the woman, maybe she felt so righteous and secure coz she had a dashcam. most class D& E drivers don't even know what a dash cam is, or even LTE.
I sincerely hope deakin and topgearph would stop patronising these acts as this could turn in something much much worse. the dashcam is not a weapon of some sort. you buy it to protect yourself or your family for defense in case the need for it arises. You don't use it for offense.
sooner or later, we will be reading news about people who had dash cams who got shot or harmed. and you think Deakin and Topgearph will help you, to them you're just a viral post for that particular hour, your 15 seconds of fame but they get the likes and followers and the credit.

July 6th, 2016 01:31 PM #4Having a dashcam gives us something to push back these morons with, but I agree. Just keep the footage. Confronting them during or after the incident is another matter entirely. The videos will still have to count for something though, and the authorities should be the ones to do something about it. I still hope the MMDA will allow issuance of TVRs and license revocation based on personal dash cam videos.

New post on Deakins account
Fort driver versus taxi driver. Cutting is legal sheesh. He will just be one car behind. Fort driver is obviously dumb.

I saw that earlier. I have this question that's been bugging me ever since.
What is it with driving a Fortuner or a Montero that makes one feel superior?
No pun intended. But most of the time these two types of vehicles fit the stereotype of road bullies.

The pros of having a dashcam outweigh the cons; it's a different story when people start using it to put other people in a spot even when there is not much need. In my case i just keep it handy in case there is any incident that you are involved in that requires the video.
Pag ikaw may mali, tago mo agad and delete the video. J/K

I have three of these...
A couple of Transcends, an a Sanyo video recorder (not looping).
A fourth one,- the one I bought from Amazon (China-made based on the operations manual),- got fried when I left it in the vehicle under the sun... Oh well.....
In my case,- just in case there's an accident...
