Bloomberry's Solaire Resort to open in March
MANILA, Philippines - The Solaire Resort & Casino in Entertainment City will open in March 2013, publicly-listed Bloomberry Resorts Corp. said on Wednesday.

The first phase of Solaire, which will open by the first quarter of 2013, will include 500 rooms, suites and villas, a world-class casino and 15restaurants.

The resort has been master planned and conceptually designed by distinguished world-renowned architect and designer Paul Steelman of Las Vegas-based Steelman Partners.

"Eclipse," the resort's entertainment lounge, will have live music performances throughout the day.
The resort will also have several restaurants such as Red Lantern, which will serve Cantonese cuisine; Yakumi with Japanese food; steakhouse Strip; and Italian restaurant Finestra. Casual dining establishment Fresh will offer an international buffet, while Lucky Noodles will serve Asian dishes 24/7.
Solaire will also have gaming tables featuring Baccarat, Blackjack, Casino War, Craps, Money Wheel, Pontoon and Roulette, as well as 1,200 slot machines. There are also no less than 6,000 square meters of premium VIP gaming salons.

"Our goal put simply is to raise the bar for entertainment offerings in Manila as it is our ambitious vision to be the ultimate gaming resort in the country. Both construction and hiring are progressing, in fact, as of today, the resort has hired or made offers to approximately 2,400 employees, 88% of our anticipated team members are locals with an addition of 8% of which are returning Filipinos who have worked overseas in places like Macau and Singapore," Michael French, Solaire's Chief Operating Officer, said.

Solaire will provide 4,600 new jobs for Filipinos.

Management service for Solaire is provided by Global Gaming Asset Management, which is composed of industry veterans.

Solaire Resorts & Casino, the $1-billion integrated gaming and resort project of listed firm Bloomberry Resorts Corp., said Wednesday it is set to open in March next year.

Global Gaming Asset Management president Bradley Stone said in a press briefing held at the Peninsula Manila Hotel in Makati City Solaire was ready to open the first phase of the project, which includes a 500-room five-star hotel, 18,500 square meters of gaming space and high-end retail establishments.

Global Gaming is providing management service to Bloomberry for the Solaire project.

Investment in the first phase is expected to reach $750 million, while the next stage, which will include the development of another 300-room hotel, spa and fitness facility, 1,800-seat theater and other retail and entertainment establishments, will cost another $250 million.

The components of the next stage will be ready for operations by 2014.

The gaming area will include 1,200 slot machines, 300 gaming tables and 6,000 square meters of premium VIP gaming salons.

Stone said the company was confident about the prospects of the project, given the overall outlook on the Asian gaming industry, especially in Macau and Singapore, as well as the favorable tax environment in the Philippines.

He noted the gaming supply in the Asian region was constrained by regulation, which could create opportunity for the country.

Stone said Solaire would achieve higher returns starting on the second year of operations.

“We are looking to ramp up our business by attracting foreign VIPs,” Stone said.

He expects VIPs, or high rollers, to account for 45 percent of gaming revenues and the mass market by 55 percent. Foot traffic may range between 5,000 and 10,000 daily.

Solaire chief operating officer Michael French said the Solaire project would generate an estimated 4,600 jobs.

“Our goal is to simply raise the bar for entertainment offerings in Manila, as it is our ambitious vision to be the ultimate gaming resort in the country,” French said.

The 8.3-hectare Solaire will be the first integrated resort to open in the government-sponsored Entertainment City in Parañaque City.

Three other companies that will open in the area are Belle Corp., Tiger Resorts and Leisure of Azure Corp of Japan and Bayshore Manila of Travellers International Holdings Inc.

The Philippine will have a $3.3-billion gaming industry by 2016 once all the four casino projects are completed.

PH aims for 10% slice of world gaming pie
PH aims for 10% slice of world gaming pie | ABS-CBN News

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) Chairman Cristino Naguiat Jr. said that while the Philippine gaming industry still has a long way to go compared to Las Vegas, Macau and Singapore, with the right blend of private-sector investment, regulatory maturity and improvements in tourism infrastructure, “we believe that a 10-percent slice of the world’s gaming pie in a few years’ time is an achievable target.”
Four Integrated Resorts (IRs) are being built by Pagcor together with four private proponents in the 100-hectare Entertainment City project. The resorts are expected to provide 5,000 hotel rooms that can accommodate up to a million tourists annually, and also offer over a million square meters of shopping, gaming, hotel and entertainment.

“At full development, Entertainment City is expected to have the capacity to deliver up to $10 billion annually in gaming revenues, as well as generate over 400,000 direct and indirect jobs. We are highly enthusiastic about this project and the impact that it will have on Philippine tourism,” Naguiat said.
