If there's one thing I learned living with my cousin in Manila, that was to appear unremarkable.

image is everything - especially for thieves.

What's ironic was my piss poor cousin who used to live with me always attracts thieves. Stuff on monthly loans get stolen. Neighbors actually think she owns the unit.

In contrast, no matter how long I stay in Hidalgo to get my lens cleaned, nobody bothers. People actually think I'm the alalay. Not that I'm complaining especially since it works to my advantage.
