How to deal with them?

First off, how do we define a social climber?
And how do we know if they're just "social climbing" o sadyang ma-pera/sosyal talaga sila?
For one, perhaps if someone is living beyond his/her means ...
Hehe... It's insecure to care what other people think of your financial status. It's even more insecure to actually care about their financial status, too.
You mow a person isn't insecure about their financial status when they don't post what they're eating or buying on FB.
Me? I'm obviously only insecure about my car journo status.... Which is why I only post test drives.![]()
It's a phase many go through in social networking... me included. "A lot of people are doing it so it's probably politically correct." But as you mature, you find less need to broadcast anything about your life and you realize how annoying it has become.
But that's on FB and Twitter. What do you guys think of forum threads like "What's your latest gadget?" or "What's the last thing you bought?", wherein you're actually encouraged to show off your crap?
I don't get affected and in fact, they never fail to make me smile a silly grin and be thankful for being happy about who i am with no qualms if the people next to me have better stuff then i do, or at least pretend that they do so (there will always be bigger fish in the pond). My wife and i even follow and banter each other about the FB posts of one of her schoolmates (who's now in politics) since her endless posting of "pa-sosyal" stuff is really crazy.
I saw this on FB some time ago:
Why not take up cudgels for a certain brand with "legendary diesel engines"? :D

FB social climbers --> unsubscribe.
RL social climbers --> normally you just ignore. But if they pull off crap that gives you grief, then it's extremely annoying.
Depends on how you got your riches... kung singer, actor or athlete... they're more likely to be conspicuous consumers who waste away their fortunes. But if they're entrepreneurs, they have the same mindset... spend only on the business, not on yourself. Not until you've got other suckers investing in your business so you can pay yourself bonuses from their money.
Hey... S&R has really good pizza, only 99 bucks for a slice of pizza bigger than a "family sized" Greenwich Pizza. Tastes ten times better, too....also, soft drinks are 1.25 cheaper at S&R.
... but when they ran out of the Lifetime tables we buy for our canteen and dorm, we went to Puregold down the street to see if they still had stock. Same-same lang naman young company... mas sosy lang dating and "S&R" na pangalan.

Legendary diesel engines? Like the one in my Isuzu Crosswind that's nearly 250,000 kilometers old and still runs perfectly well despite being beaten half-to-death and driven through two typhoon floods? You can inquire about a brand new Crosswind XUVi with amazing turbo power at your nearest Isuzu dealer, today!
Yeah, and at P 500+ for a box, not bad. I also pass by the tire section to get high on the smell of fresh tires before heading out. :D
You should have a weekly column where you can devote one paragraph to Isuzu on a regular basis. ;)
BTW, if you wanna be pa-sosy don't forget to pose your yearly "Bora" sojourn on FB.
Hahaha madami akong kilalang ganito.
" ... just got home. had a tiresome day."
Non-sense pero pa-sosyal:
" ... just got home from Starbucks. Love the frap yumyum."
or
" ... chill here at Starbucks." (posted 1 minute ago at Starbucks Tagaytay wi-fi)
Hehe.
Pero di ako mayaman ha...

btw, yun timeline ngaun compiles all your check ins, eh ako since
Late 2010, may check-in ako sa DC, sa McDo Times Square, sa Florence cathdedral, Sa Piazza San Marco Venice, sa Louvre, sa Zurich etc etc, I checked in using my Prev Ipad1, ipad2, ip4. nasa records sa FB yun sa timeline wall ko
kaya social climber or not, mas nagamit ko ng husto gadgets ko, may history imprint pa
----
way back early 2011, nag-shout ako "sipping 'French' coffee" at Starbucks, Galeries Lafayette, Paris.
using Iphone. pa noon ang FB, ngaun kasi using mobile eh.
sabi ko sa inyo, umabot ako halos ng 100 likes noon. that's Social Climber's dream to the max
and also check-in with pictures, para talaga kapani-paniwala. but do take note na pag-travel, always wear your best clothes and be your best fit body.
I don't drink fattening coffee or eat unhealthy food while on travel eh, kasi kelangan lagi fit ako sa pictures. once in a lifetime lang yun mga yun

I have to agree w/ hein. Why are you affected? Re: social media, I'm ok w/ "non-sense" posts since these platforms were created specifically for this purpose. Do you think Twitter, FB, Google+, etc. will thrive if people only post milestone events?
