Far too many people are jumping on the opposition's bandwagon, simply because it's too easy to give in to emotions. All we see is a president who (supposedly) cheated in the elections. We want her removed from office, bahala na kung sino ang papalit. We oust her, and then what? We start from scratch? We always go back to square one, thinking that by taking the easy way out i.e. EDSA 3, 4, 5, ad nauseum we can erase the consequences of our actions as a people. No wonder we never get anywhere.

Everyone wants to be president, but no one wants to be a leader.

well for the record i certainly am not on the opposition's side or the admin's side. IMO GMA's silence is just fueling people's speculations and of course everybody has their own way of thinking and makes their own interpretation of the matter. if only GMA would just confirm or deny it e di one step na rin in proving it real or a hoax dba?

though obvious may iba dito opposition talaga or admin.

Well based on your previous post, you've accepted the fact that cheating is part of the elections. Well thats your opinion, this is my beef.
Here are the guidelines to filing an electoral protest:

    > A Presidential candidate has up to July 24, 2004 to file a protest if he wishes to contest the result of the election.

    > Only the second and third placers could file electoral protests.

    > The Supreme Court will convene a Presidential Electoral Tribunal once an election protest is filed before the Court.

    Get the facts straight first...

    > Only FPJ & Lacson has the RIGHT to file an electoral protest. So why didn't Lacson file a protest?

    > Congress can impeach PGMA... but under what grounds? The supposedly wiretapped conversations do not count as evidence.

You cannot just rely on emotions to get anything done.

I remember this one politician from Pasig yata who just spent a day sa congress dahil tapos na din yung term nung kalaban nya bago sya nadeklarang nanalo.

Another problem... we shout for justice but we don't want to follow the system designed to do that (the impeachment proceeding that is). If we want mob rule / instant justice... how is that different from PGMA rigging the elections? Wouldn't we just fall in the same category as you are now placing her?

Am no big fan of any of them... it is just that we should just support whoever is sitting RIGHT NOW in Malacanang.

we should support whoever is sitting in Malacanang??? even if it's a crook??? maybe richard nixon should have become a filipino citizen and ran in philippine elections. di sana nya kelangang mag-resign. no wonder walang asenso pinas hehe

Which is why we must always use that "gray matter" between our ears in looking at things.

All the bantering and emotions against Arroyo dito sa thread na ito ay walang patutunguhan.

You are just planting seeds in people's minds. Dahil ang pinoy, tanggap lang ng tanggap ng chismis without verifying whether it is true or not.

for too long... we've been doing the opposite as there's a lack of nationwide / overwhelming support for the one sitting at Malacanang (since Cory's time)... kaya nga walang asenso ang pinas.

Someone just forwarded this email to me....

    Very distressing news...

    Friday, 05 06, 2005
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the 14th President, continues to rack
    up
a record of achievements unmatched in Philippine history. Among them:
    1) The highest level of public debt (P4.08 trillion as of
    yesterday) and
the biggest amount of foreign borrowing. (More than Corazon Aquino,
    Fidel
    Ramos and Joseph Estrada combined).
    2) The No. 2 most corrupt country in the world; No. 1 in Asia
    according to
the World Economic Forum and Asian Development Bank.
    3) The most dangerous place for journalists in the whole world,
    according
to the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and earlier
    the London based ICJ.
    4) The new shabu manufacturing center in Asia.
    5) The harshest repression rate of freedom of speech and of
    assembly topped
by a no- permit, no-rally policy.
    6) The highest unemployment rate (13.9 percent or five million
    unemployed)
and the highest underemployment rate including the collapse of the
    garment
    industry.
    7) The weakest link in the war on terror and the loss of standing
    and
respect in the international community accompanied by a deterioration of
    US-Philippine relations.

The most expensive and the most fraudulent elections over held on May
    10,
    2004.
    9) The fastest deterioration in the poverty line from 32 percent
    under
President Erap to 47 percent in four years.
    10) The highest price of oil products ever (P33 per liter).
    11) The highest dollar-peso exchange rate (P56 to $1).
    12) The highest importation of rice over a four-year period (more
    than
5,000 metric tons) indicating a failure in agriculture.
    13) The most number of casinos and gambling establishments.
    14) The most number of foreign and domestic trips by a President.
    15) Control of the Supreme Court and inferior courts.
    16) The largest number of retired Armed Forces of the Philippines
    (AFP) and
Philippine National Police (PNP) officers appointed to civilian
    positions.
    17) The biggest number of doctors, nurses, managers, professionals,
    even
domestics and caregivers leaving the country.
    18) The biggest percentage increase of service and clearance fees,
    tolls
(3,000 percent), license fees, ever imposed by any administration. You
    even
have to pay to enter a National Bureau of Investigation office.
    19) The lowest amount ($14 million) of foreign investment in any
    given
    year.
    20) The biggest number of pyramid scams, pre-need plans bankruptcy,
    thereby
    a failure to protect consumers.
    21) Condemnation by the German government and business associations
    on the
    Fraport-Piatco issue.
    22) The Peace bonds scam giving away P1.8 billion to Code NGO and
    incurring
a P35 billion additional debt in the process.
    23) The biggest amount of unpaid pensions to AFP and PNP retirees
    (P17
    billion).
    24) The biggest importer of used cars and tax-free luxury cars.
    25) Control of all TV stations.

What does all of these amount to? A failure of governance by the worst
administration in our 107-year history. Going berserk. An administration
senator told a congressman last week: I am worried about GMA The
congressman asked why? The senator said: She's going berserk
GMA reportedly went berserk when on her birthday, April 5, in Malacanang
she accused NLRC Chairman Roy Seneres of urging US Ambassador Francis
Ricciardone to support moves to oust her. Seneres confirmed this to the
Inquirer yesterday saying, Nagtaray siya. It was very unpresidential.
    Now
we have a chance. Seneres would go berserk, resign and spill the beans
    on
Malacanang intervention on the Brown and Root case where poor overseas
Filipino workers lost millions of benefits. The senator's remark was
    made
after Sen. Francis Pangilinan reported to him that GMA dressed him down
    in
Malacanang for failure to pass the value-added tax (VAT) bill, treating
    him
like a houseboy. Even Malacanang reporters have been dressed down. One
thing sure, GMA went berserk in spending public funds during the
    elections.
Now our finances are going berserk, too.
Relax Madam, didn't Secretary Avelino Nonong Cruz say everything is
    under
control? In FIRM CONTROL? Whom the
Gods wish to destroy... More losses. On another front, GMA is losing
support in Congress. Not only is the VAT bill in
limbo, now her congressmen and senators want to pass on to her the
    odious
job of increasing the VAT rate from 10
percent to 12 percent. They want to save their own necks at her expense.
    In
Tagalog, gusto nilang ipahamak at ibaon si
    Gloria.

Of course, the opposition lawmakers are going along. Bye, bye birdie!
Standby authority? I'd rather die in power!

Big gamble. Is it congratulations or condolences to our fellow Manila
(Host) Lions Club member and Philconsa officer Camilo Sabio for being
    appointed PCGG chairman?
    We pray for your success.
Inquiry. No sooner did Malacanang spokesman Ignacio Bunye label New
York-based Committee to Protect Journalists report on the Philippines
    being
the most dangerous country for journalists as eexaggerated, when another
journalist, Kline Cantoneros, was riddled with seven bullets by three
assassins in a Dipolog City road, and died one day later.
As editor Vergel Santos said on TV Malacanang is in a state of
    self-denial.
And the PNP is helpless and hopeless as usual. Their response is to
    create
a Task Force Cantoneros to solve the crime in addition to a Task Force
    Newsmen.
Why a task force all the time? It just means the local police cannot be
trusted to do their job properly. Will there be a Task Force Gloria?
Crime marches on. While journalists are in fear, a lot of crimes are
happening all over. A Metrobank branch in Marikina was held up. Dolores
Agbulos, 54, a Customs broker, her niece and driver were kidnapped in
Tagaytay. Four activists were snatched in Calauag, Quezon. Harvindar
    Singh,
an Indian, was found murdered with two gunshot wounds in his car in Sta.
    Ana, Manila.
All these while the PNP can deploy 8,000 policemen to guard Erap, but is
clueless on Ambassador Alice Ramos' killing and doesn't know any jueteng
    lords.
    Dagdagan pa natin.....
    A. The highest toll fee you can imagine at all expressway....
    B. The highest cost of a 5 kilometer expressway "Diosdado Macapagal
    Highway" ba iyun?
    C. The highest death coz by illegal logging.
    D. The highest increase in fare sa jeep at busses dming susunod pa
dyan....abngan... a fruit that was stolen is sweet but it can make you
    ugly........

A lot of people have become jaded when it comes to whoever is sitting in Malacaņang. For my part, I've become quite jaded myself where People Power is concerned. From being a symbol of democracy and freedom, it has degenerated into an instrument of threat and blackmail. Not to mention a convenient excuse to cover-up our shortcomings.

"Okey lang kahit sinong pangulo ang iboto natin. Pag nagsawa na tayo, anytime naman pwede tayong magtawag ng People Power eh."
